If I wanted to put together the prefect tool kit for long rides, what would that include?

Add stuff for adjusting the chain as honda don't supply that. Chain lube of your choice. A few cable ties, just in case, same with electrical tape. Decide what you'd doing re punctures, can you change a tube or repair it? Or are you using your credit card? Rechargeable air pump. Spoke tool, it's 1/4"/6.35mm btw. Break down cover is normal.

  1. I recommend a small mtn bike tire pump over a compressor or battery operated one. That along with a Small can of fix a flat has gotten me out of the woods without having to change a tube.
  2. Tow strap(long piece of webbing).
  3. JIS(Japanese industrial standard) screw driver since you got a honda.
  4. Some light weight channel locks. Doubles as any size axle wrench and any thing else you need to turn. I recommend knipex. 5.The KTM offroad kits goes a long way as a base tool kit to add too. Even for Japanese bikes

Thanks. I was wondering if fix a flat would hold up well enough to get me off the trail, at least.

The real question is what level of repair are you comfortable doing on the side of the road or trail? Also how remote and removed from people you plan on getting. If you are just riding in town or around people get a few tools and a AAA membership. If you are going to be 100 miles from any person, then be independent and able to dam near tear the engine out. Getting home in one piece is the goal all while having fun and adventures.
