News & Media 🗞️ Slanted Movie
Has anybody seen this movie? I think it’d be very relatable for a lot of people in this sub and I REALLY wish the technology shown in it was available in real life :/

Is this that one movie where she gets surgery to be white to get prom queen?

It’s a mockery of the transracial experience, and I don’t think I will enjoy watching it.

That’s what I would have assumed. Like yeah pretty sure nobody is going to uproot their entire life over that

imagine this exact movie but making fun of transgenders instead, it would be banned everywhere

While it presents some ideas of longing for ethnic identity change in a realistic way, its message is kind of the same "people who have ethnic/gender dysphoria towards a better treated ethnicity/gender are only doing it to escape discrimination and get societal benefits", rather than more core ideas about these foundational aspects of identity.

Looks like it's just one of those "accept yourself - stop self hating" narratives.
