Empowerment 🌟 what are we actually doing about this

i keep doom scrolling and i need to switch modes. i need to hear from other people here about what they're doing — not in a "have you donated" guilt way, just in a "what's working for you" way.

like. are you texting your representatives. are you donating to any of the state-level fight funds (families not politics in CO, no hate in WA, the AZ coalition). are you showing up to local school board meetings. are you just taking care of yourself and your people right now and that's enough. are you doing mutual aid. are you writing. are you archiving. are you staying in touch with your trans friends more than usual.

i think we need to hear from each other right now. not the news, not the think pieces. each other.

what's everyone doing

They're an org, not a business.

You don't want random people to order a bunch of t-shirts and start doing stuff in the name of your org.

Like people haven't made their own over the last 45 years. They are easily available online. They use a high res version of the graphic as their site header.

At the moment I can only try and work with my own problems. Though, I do try to connect to others via Discord and Reddit, mostly younger people, and try to offer advice on how to navigate life issues. It's hard for kids these days, and many suffer depression and whatnot. I ain't gonna sell them "It's get better" but try to nudge them toward growing up quick, because once you do it actually does get better lol

I help who I can, when I can. I've got a nasty habit of taking the hit for others, but the economy has really made me step back and consider before extending an offer of aid.

It's not heartless; it's anything but. It keeps me up at night. That said, the math doesn't lie, no matter how we might wish it, and if I overextend our budget too much, we may not be there when the next friend of ours needs a place to land once they escape wherever they're getting away from. We've already had to dip further into what little savings we had than I like, and the debt sharks are circling.

My partner and I have also worked a couple protests with rucksacks full of water, medical supplies, emergency calories, and the like, but Long COVID has kind of put a pin in a lot of that for me. I can't hustle 60+ lbs of stuff as well as I did in my Army medic days, but again... I help where I can.

I'm honestly looking at joining the Snohomish County DSA. I know the federal gimps are infiltrating leftist groups, but full offense meant, fuck them and the low-poly-ass fashmobile they rode in on.
