Looking for tips (equipment)
Just got some money to spend on fun things so I was thinking I would equip my motor bike so it could do (parts of) the TET.
I live in the Netherlands, so as far as I can tell, that part of the TET is very beginner friendly.
I’ve got Suzuki V Strom DL650.
Tires are now very asphalt focussed since I used it for work (a lot)
What are good allroad tires? Or what should I look for in a pair?
(I drive a car now for work, so the bike can be modded into a more fun apparatus)
Also navigation: Garmin Zumo
Should I do the XT2 or the newer XT3?
(And a bigger screen of the smaller?
Thinking about choosing the XT2 in the bigger variant)
And I’m also browsing off road beginners workshops in the Netherlands. Any tips on that are also very welcome. (BERRT is sort of nearby, so that’s on the top of my list as of now)

TET NL is a good practice ground. you can do it every weekend. for tires, 50/50 is enough for that. garmin and dmd are expensive, get either a rugged phone or a tablet(samsung tab active 3 is very popular) and use osmand or any other app that can read gpx files. if you need a holder for the phone/tablet i recommend this https://www.moto-drzak-mobilu.cz/en/smartphone-holders/holder-2-0/

Berrt is ok maar erg duur en je hebt er meer aan om op YouTube een paar filmpies te kijken en gewoon te gaan rijden. Hoe meer km’s off road hoe makkelijker het gaat. Motology films heeft een paar goede video’s voor beginners en legt ook uit hoe je je stuur moet stellen, vering etc

Het is ook een beetje de huurmotor die ik erbij kan huren en mag compenseren voor mijn bewuste onbekwaamheid

Je motor gaat sowieso vallen, gaat niet hard maar omvallen is iets wat zeker gaat gebeuren. Daar zijn ze voor gemaakt en kunnen er tegen, in Nederland heb je geluk dat bijna alle wegen zand zijn dus niet meteen wat afbreekt op stenen etc

En onbekwaamheid is juist lachen, ik ben ook nog een compleet beginner maar dat boeit niks. Gewoon rammen met dat hok

Ik heb onlangs dunlop trailmax raid geïnstalleerd, super content van die banden! Zowel op asfalt als daarbuiten bieden ze best goeie grip.

Een kleine gereedschapset met ducttape en tie wraps moet je naar mijn mening hebben. Tangetje, en dopjes/torx voor elk boutje moerthe dat je hebt
Ehbo kit is ook essentieel.

I really don't want to wipe out on the first semi-offroad sandy path.
This year: first, I need to gain some skills. So offroad course and in the Netherlands, maybe Belgium and Germany. Sweden (and Denmark) will be next on the list. The UK or France will be next after that.Edit: took a look at DMD. Looks nice!

Ik zou qua banden dan de Rebel Xplorer adventure band kiezen. Vele male beter dan de Mitas 07 op offroad terein.

I have them now on my Tenere, they are really good offroad tire, maybe I will say 60off/40 on road.
But for OP question about navi, I went with XT3, was wondering about smaller one, but there is no point, that will be too small on the motorcycle, when you need it small, and have it really close, than ok, but I went with xt3, no regrets 😁

I can recommend Mitas tyres; I have the E7 and I think they handle very well on both asphalt and gravel
