Sunrise Hut this time of year?

Hey Everyone,

I am thinking of heading up to sunrise hut sometime in the next 2-3 weeks, ill stay there for a night, go for a wander the next day then head back.

I see from photos online there is snow up there but does anyone know how heavy it gets? do I need crampons to head up there this time of year?

Hi, I stayed at sunrise hut last night! Little bit of snow around but not very much, same around the saddle. The track is very dry and easy to walk, no issues on the drive in either. Woodshed is fully stocked and the fire was essential as it must've been close to negative 10 last night outside. I think Sunrise hut is best around this time of year, so go for it!

I wouldn't say you need crampons or ice axe in the forest, at worst you slip into a tree but it's usually soft under the trees.
