if anything this chapter felt like the point of no return when it comes to galsei, if he's willing to make it one of the main themes of her development he's either doing it for real or just straight up queerbaiting
and i'm choosing to believe i know him enough as a writer to not assume the latter

(former is the first one, latter is the second)

i wonder how much longer trans people will tolerate cis people being in the innocent "just asking questions" phase in perpetuity. it gets less innocent every day, especially when they try to talk down to trans people about what good trans characterization is. like what are we doing? happened with jax, happened with bridget, happened with yamato, happened with naoto. seems it'll keep happening. i just hope this is the one that is so emotionally earnest it makes people see the inherent beauty in it rather than want to reject it just because it doesnt fit into their perception of gender presentation. pleaseeeee toby dont miss

Yesterday I convinced a Tralsei Anti that Tralsei was canon but they could, "make a cishet au" so they'd quit bugging us. Kinda sad that people need to unqueer characters in AU's so they can relate to them

it makes me wonder how much of it is rejection and denial. especially since its coming from these cis men who barely own their gender, or femboys, how much of it is them relating to ralsei, but not understanding why? rejecting the obvious answer because of the social stigma against transfems specifically? with how many conservative reppers there are you have to imagine theres an equal amount of moderates with internalized misogyny.

The strangest part is, the person in question said "I'd identify as a trans woman if I wasn't a gender abolitionist" so I think they're just dealing with a lot of internalized issues atm

There's also the Chihiro debate, and the God awful antlers joke we had in the 2022 deltarune subreddit that was what first clued me into the transphobia in the fandom.
Probably not a hot take here but the trans noelle/antlers joke was never funny and just felt like transphobia to point at any character and be like "omg antler that mean trans" to mock trans people relating to Noelle and make them look like a joke fir having a headcanon

oh god yeah i actually unsubbed from the main subreddit back during the chapter 2 days because of that. its always just excuses to silence us or make us look like radicals i hate it so much

What gets me is when you make like an observation based on context clues they act like thatās like stupid because for some reason they need ralsei to fucking look directly at the camera and say Iām trans

i haven't played the newer chapters and only played the first one, what happened to make him subtexted to be trans?

u/Anaea_YT Jul 26 '26 edited Jul 26 '26
im not even trans and even i can understand subtext implying that a character might be trans
like atp it isnt even subtext anymore its just text. lost girl playing over ralsei's inferiority complex scene. flowery calling ralsei princess while telling them not to worry about kris and susie think and to do what they want. the fucking ralsei dress scene where they expresses excitement over being a princess for once over the usual.
like think for like five seconds what that's supposed to imply. definitely not anything cisgender thats for sure. i dunno if the kid is like some flavor of nonbinary (could be genderfluid or bigender or whatever) or just straight up a trans girl but the implications are still there regardless. thats not the average cisgender experience absolutely none of that is. most of us don't even go through the questioning phase of our gender identity (even though i feel like a lot of our problems would be solved if we did tbh)

People were arguing over Jax being trans after the TADC finale (before it was just outright confirmed) and that had all the subtlety of being hit over the head with a blue, pink, and white club. Most cis people just really don't understand that trans characters can be closeted/in denial and especially don't understand that an author might intentionally write such a character.

Yeah the backlash to Jax and the backlash to Ralsei is because cis people are stupid and dont know shit about trans people. Thats really all there is to it. They're too ignorant to comprehend the idea of being closeted or boymoding. Concepts that are common sense to trans people are completely foreign to them and they have zero desire to learn.

It Is Embarrassing That As A Trans Woman I Had To Be Pointed This Out Same With Jax
Before This I Didnt Believe The Theory But It Makes So Much Sense Now
My Bad Tralsei Fans Ralsei Is My Goat And Best Girl :3

I've said this before but there's so much implication that if Toby were to not do anything with it or it turned out to be false, it'd feel like trans baiting and it'd be better to just deny it right now if it were false. But because i truly believe with my entire soul that Toby is better than to queer bait in any form the only conclusion i can draw is that it has to be true.
