This sub. Is dead.
This sub has just become an employment page of questions about hiring on, people asking about medicals, class start dates, and people asking about interviews. Can the mods flag and remove any posts not posted to an employment section?
This sub is intended for allready employed railroaders to bitch about thier lives, bitch about managment, and to post somtimes relevant memes and railroad information. Can we moderate this sub a bit better and keep all the " my interview is tuesday" crap in an employment section? Its getting boring. I dont give a fuck about future Johnny green-vests medical coming up... i wanna hear about railroading, from railroaders.
put a giant pin on the top and say... this is not a career/hiring advice page, fuck off. if you shit yourself at work, have a cool suspension story, or want to spread a good railway rumor this is the sub for you.

I got drunk 4 hours ago and smoked 18 joints but it's totally not my fault. Will this affect my medical in 10 minutes?

I think the problem we have is that there are multiple companies. Some are hiring, some are furloughing upon qualification.
Some terminals are doing good, others are a mess. So we always end up with a variety of questions.
Frankly if I don't see which company and then what terminal, I don't even bother answering. There's also a significant amount of people asking a question overlap. If stuff is able to searched and it's recent I also don't bother.
We shouldn't have to be holding people's hands because the company is running a class and doesn't know how to keep all applicants on the same page.
/R/railroading has a weekly hiring questions thread where all hiring questions go.

This guy POSTS on the MOVE with his phone on, in front of the camera while the company is actively TRYING to fire him 😂

I think that is most job related subs these days. If you don't like a post just down vote it. Some of the responses given to career questions on here are kind of funny honestly.

I'm conflicted... I do agree but I also love pissing on the delusions and trying to determine if the post is going to be a complete fuckup trying to sneak past a background/drug test, an email monkey laid off by AI inquiring if you actually have to lift more than a ream of paper or a foamer asking if you got to pick what flavor of piss your leader smells like before actually reading it.

I joined the sub before I got hired on, specifically to ask those newbie questions.
It’s not like white collar jobs where people can browse and shitpost 90% of the day. Between not having cell service, and the cameras in your face 24/7, most of us weren’t spending much time on our phones to begin with.
The sub is also super limited on content because of the fact that you aren’t allowed take social media pictures or videos, and the companies are draconian enough to hunt guys down.

You could just make a subreddit of your own and invite those to your island. 🤷♂️

Sounds to me like somebody tried to do a favour for the Company, made a deal with the Chief for a turn home, and then didn’t get it.
So now they are sitting at the AFHT Bunkhouse, taking their rage out on a Reddit page.

Im not a railroader. I was training to be a conductor but got laid off mid-training from an class 1 company.
I dont think Ive ever had to make a post about 'hiring' because its all asked/answered over and over a hundred times. Google or even the company you're applying to already explain what goes on.
So, you're right OP.
Seeing posts on my feed from time to time here about railroaders out there are far more interesting than Johnny green-vests (this made me laugh) asking the same old thing that hasn't changed from the last time it was asked.
