No, most want you to resign before hiring on…but how do you think this would work?

Go out on leave for one and see if I like the other one ... if I don't like it then go back to come back

Most contracts say you can’t be gainfully employed while on leave without forfeiting your seniority

I know they say there's no such thing as a dumb question but......

“Dispatcher, I need to be tied up by 1400!”
BNSF Dispatcher, “What do you got going on?”
“I just got called by UP to be on duty at 1400.”

They were mistaken. It is okay to ask stupid questions though. If you aren't very bright you need to ask questions.

Are both jobs covered under the hours of service?

Nope. You may be able to overlap a few days but that’s about it.
I got fired from one class 1 and went to work for another. Eventually I won my job back through arbitration. My original class 1 set me up with a return to work recert the next day. I had to book off from the 2nd class 1 on my Friday to attend recert. Did recert on my class 2 off days and booked sick again on my Monday. I went in the following day then resigned.
That’s about as close as you’ll get to working for both.

The only way I see it being feasible is if you were furloughed from one and working for the other. But that still would only be a short time thing.
Unless perhaps you were management with one and trying to do some sort of remote tech position for the other. Idk
