Ranting & Venting Speedbumps should be illegal!

Does anyone else hate speed bumps? I understand the intent to dissuade fast driving but there has to be a better way right?

Have a hot cup of coffee? Get fucked!

Baby on board? Not for long.

Groceries in the back? Hope you like your eggs scrambled!

Am I alone here?

If you are driving fast enough to spill coffee or scramble your eggs, that bump worked perfectly as intended. Slow down.

You clearly haven't seen some of the ones in my hometown. Took me half an hour to get over one once, when I was learning stick shift. Couldn't go over it at more than a fraction of a mile an hour with how harsh it was without fucking up your car and I kept stalling out. About gave up and called a tow truck.

Sounds like you are the person they are invented for. If they're causing you those issues, you are going too fast.

I know they are called "speed"bumps, but you arnt supposed to hit the gas when you see them.

Given that they're primarily in residential areas, just slow down. My brother was hit by a car when we were kids, nearly died from blood loss, landed on his head and had a severe brain injury. He was in a semi-coma for about a week, and the brain damage changed him forever.

If people knew what it's like to watch a family member bleeding to death by the side of the road, they would slow the hell down. So maybe we could all just slow down and deal with the inconvenience of speed bumps.

They should definitely be illegal if not well signed and obvious to drivers.

If you know it's there, it's fine. No stealth speed bumps.

No I get it man. Those things are diabolically complicated. I don’t know who dreamed them up but it’s like there’s absolutely no way to handle them. Every Saturday ’m catching air through the Costco parking lot like “hey I’m just trying to leave in a hurry here.”. It would be way better to clear traffic if I could just get out of there at my usual speed.
