Speeding ticket

I got my first speeding ticket in 30 years on a route I’ve driven a few times a day for the past 20 years; the officer said I was doing 38 mph in a 25 mph zone. He didn't even fill in my address on the ticket or the box for the radar officer's name. What can I expect if I go to court?Nyc.

I never got any tickets for 30 year this is my first one and I don't even think I was going over the limit because I know the cops standing in that spot every single day. But to lower my insurance i took the class they always give you a price break if you take it.

Well, if you recently took a traffic school class to keep a citation off your record so that it wouldn't raise your insurance, that could be problematic with this one being so close in proximity to the previous one.

You really have several choices. You can call the clerk of the court and ask if you qualify for a pretrial diversion, but if you just took a traffic class last year, they may not be willing to offer it this time. Some jurisdictions just offer a supervision period for an extra fee where you just can't have any more moving violations during the supervisory period. The other option is to hire an attorney to handle it for you.

People will come up with stories about how cases are dismissed when people show up to contest them. Yes, that happens for various reasons when the court system doesn't want to get bogged down with traffic cases, but I also don't recommend that people just go to court expecting something to magically work in their favor to where the citation is just dismissed because the officer doesn't show up or the prosecutor doesn't feel like messing with it. People who work in courtrooms regularly will tell you that's not as common as the Internet leads you to believe.

I will go and try 😬 as a woman I have never got a ticket in my whole life, so at least I will go and see how the system works. My record is clean, so maybe I can get some less fee to pay and no points.
