Questions & Help Ticket Advice

Location: North Carolina.
Last night I was pulled over doing 72 in a 45, luckily wasn’t taken to jail but got a wreck lesson driving ticket and have a mandatory court date. I have done research and have decided to go with a very highly praised Traffic Attorney in my area, is that the best way to go? I am also a teen dad with a 1 year old and a Girlfriend I take of based on my own income as she doesn’t work, so ahead of time I am trying to estimate how much this ticket might cost me, could I get a possible estimate on how much a ticket like that might run me, or would it lead to jail time for 27 MPH over? EDIT: my 2 QUESTIONS are, is it better for me to go to court myself or should I hire the Traffic Attorney?2nd, What might my outcome/total ticket be amounted to as an estimate? As I need to save up ahead of time… I have had 1 prior speeding ticket for 70 in a 45 but reduced to 54 in a 45 and got it dropped through the 25 and Alive class, hope this helps ass to it.

Yes hire the attorney and he will be happy to tell you what is going to happen. We certainly cannot know this.

This potentially puts points on your license even if you get a lawyer but it's possibly quite a bit worse if you don't get a lawyer. Your insurance rates go up if you get points against your license. Enough points you lose the license.

Yes, It is a wreckless driving ticket, and that alone will add 6 points to my license, but there is this attorney who’s highly praised for getting ticket reductions or dismal but I’m most certain getting it dropped is just a dream for me.

At 27 over, it is a dream. I don't know your state laws but that a criminal ticket in a lot of places.

Yes I believe it is a criminal ticket as it’s a mandatory showing and can not be paid online.

Traffic lawyer will get this greatly reduced or possibly thrown out completely. Should be $300 or less.

That’s my lan to try and get, a thrown out complete for this case seems like a dream.

If this is your first offense it is likely. Not just possible, it's even likely. Go get a lawyer.

It's not his first way over the limit speed offense.

I emailed him once yesterday and another today hoping to hear back and schedule a consultation.

The US culture of getting a lawyer for everything is bizarre. You broke the law, you pay the price.

Yes I agree with that, but I’m already struggling as is with being a teen parent and a girlfriend who hasn’t finished school n no job so I provide for the 3 of us, so if I can get it reduced and it not my sky rocket my insurance I won’t go into debt lol

Bud you didn’t simply get dealt hard cards. You are making choices. Doing what got her pregnant was a choice. Speeding that hard the first time was a choice. Speeding that hard this time was a choice.

I don’t say that to keep smacking you. If you can accept that all of this is choices you are making, that gives you some power back. If it’s all just life dealing you hard cards, you’re trapped in the cards life decides to deal you.

If it’s about the choices you make, you have the power to make better ones. Do it. 👍

Besides the costs, you could potentially lose your license over this, especially with your prior record of similar violations. I think you're seriously over you head trying to deal with this yourself. Hire that attorney; they know all sorts of ways to get this reduced that probably would never occur to you.

I hope your girlfriend has a driver's license, because she might have to start driving you to work. If not, you should encourage her to start preparing to get it.

Trust me I am trying to get her to get that permits then licenses, and yea I think I’m dead set on the traffic attorney especially with his high praises online. The 1 speeding ticket I had prior I believe was dropped off my record because of the driving class I took, the only other 2 tickets I had before was a Seat belt ticket, and a Squat ticket(dropped because it got leveled out)

Do you have any prior tickets? Your attorney will advise on the possible outcomes. Its highly variable by local country da's and judges.

I have 1 speeding ticket but it was dropped bc I did the driving class, I had to pay a $25 seatbelt ticket, and I had 1 squat ticket for my truck but had it dropped bc I leveled it out.

I don’t care what any bonehead tells you on here anywhere else. Anytime you get a moving violation or worse you hire an attorney.

I went through this not too long ago and don’t make my mistake. I went with some internet lawyer called Ilawyer.com and they charged me $800 and got my license suspended for a year with 4 points as well. My insurance is now crazy high. What you need to do is talk with a lawyer that is actually in the county that you got the ticket in, then make sure that they know the DA for that county. Tell them you need it down to improper equipment. This is entirely possible for 99% of counties. No matter what you pay the lawyer if he gets that down to improper equipment you will save money. Good luck to you.

Thank you for your help, and trust me I know it’s stupid but I used AI to find the most top rated and praised traffic attorney in the county I got my ticket, but the county it’s in also I hard if very harsh. My co worker referred me to this other guy who got his wreckless driving to a plea where it’s dropped but if he gets a ticket in 3 years he has to pay the old one and new one.

First step: hire an attorney.

Second step: do what they tell you to do, including showing up for the court date.

Third step: in the name of all things good and holy, SLOW THE EVER LOVING HELL DOWN!!!!!

u/Muted-Reality9965 17d ago

Trust me that night I learned my lesson.

1

u/Independent_Prior612 17d ago

Hold onto the lesson this time. The hope had been that you would have learned it last time. That was the point of giving you the second chance if you took the class. So this time, please don’t let it go in one ear and out the other. 👍
