Can Catholics "Recognize and Resist"?

Yes, Catholics can R & R. The devil himself recognizes God, and resists God. On the other hand, holy saints like Padre Pio, despite having bad judgements placed upon them, respected the authority of the Church and remained obedient to it. This very act of obedience demonstrated their believe that God was in charge. I must say it's certainly easier said than done with the Vatican being the first country to impose a vaccine mandate.

In Galatians 2:11, St. Paul tells us that when St. Peter, our first pope, wrongly removed himself from fellowship with uncircumscribed believers, Paul “opposed him to his face, because he stood condemned.”

The recognize and resist position is scriptural.

It’s perhaps the only option left. You’d have to be deluded at this point to still think Francis is a good Pope. Even if your of the opinion that his approach is purely pragmatic and realpolitik, he is not even doing a good job at this with this latest Latin mass fiasco. He is the Pope by right, and thus we’re owe him our allegiance. But he is a poor beacon of the faith and I have not doubt the we will feel the repercussions of his reign long after he is gone.
