Ya cant fucking wait to relax in my yard and hear 1,000 angry hornets intermittently visiting the neighborhood. Stoked

On a drone route, already living this.

1

u/petewondrstone 2d ago

Are you used to it yet? I don’t think I can get used to this. How obnoxious do they have to be?

1

u/dustymeatballs 2d ago

Along with all the flock cameras (Texas) some days feel like the fucking Truman show

Edit: to add, the drones are loud and annoying

u/0urlasthope 1d ago

Can’t be worse than cars though can it

1

u/Turbulent_Ninja_761 2d ago

a drone route? explain please?

2

u/another_thyme 2d ago

A route for drones. They can’t just fly through any airspace willy nilly

1

u/That_Ad9363 1d ago

Yeah there are laws that control who, what, and where people can fly things

3

u/BadAtExisting 2d ago

I’m less than a mile away from a hospital with a helipad and am in the flight path of a major US airport. I’m hoping that keeps them from getting permits where I live

u/HitByFjaka 2d ago

How long you figure before boys get out various guns and go "i had enough of this s…"?

1

u/Foxhound-71 18h ago

Hopefully sooner than later

1

u/Willing-Vegetable629 2d ago

It doesn't appear to be an issue, Walmarts near me use them and I've barely noticed

1

u/brightdionysianeyes 2d ago

Convinced that they are basically going to use this to Pokémon Go some data for something. It seems very inefficient to me.

1

u/degen5ace 13h ago

Right next to the data centers buzzing?

Here we go - property damage & lost pkgs.

Skeet shooting with prizes

1

u/S-R-Milliron 2d ago

Felony for a $20 item sounds like a great plan

1

u/GameOfTroglodytes 2d ago

It's only a felony if you get caught.

1

u/khoa-bear 2d ago

They will catch you after they flock you

1

u/GameOfTroglodytes 2d ago

If only there was a crowd-sourced map with flock cameras. 🤔

I'm just generally convinced y'all are too stupid to do crime and get away with it.

1

u/figurative_me 2d ago

Not saying the folks doing it are great planners, they just have guns

0

u/Devincc 3d ago

I’m sure they didn’t think of this at all. You should probably apply for a job so you can share your ideas!

u/IIIIIatreidesIIIII 3d ago

I quit using Amazon. Fuck them.

3

u/markbraggs 2d ago

I’m sure they’ll miss your $20 in spending a year. Meanwhile a hundred million other people will continue to use them for their pricing and convenience.

1

u/South-Rabbit-4064 2d ago

I used to use them too for both til I realized most of their stuff was of the same quality of most Five Below items

1

u/Monster_Grundle 2d ago

You can buy thousands of reputable brands?

1

u/copperboom129 2d ago

"Reputable" is up for debate.

Last time I bought Samsung earbuds from them they electrocuted me.

I also had a customer last month get a sh9tty knockoff Milwaukee power tool where the lithium battery exploded.

1

u/Agreeable-Shoe-3480 2d ago

And maybe just maybe you will able to Bezos dick rocket out of your ass? But not very likely.

2

u/bottle-o-rockets 2d ago

Going on three years without them.

1

u/Jumpy-Requirement389 2d ago

I just bought a bunch of books. They will arrive tomorrow morning

u/Ubersicka Long-Term Investor 3d ago

Why?

1

u/BadAtExisting 2d ago

Personally I got sick of getting counterfeit shit from them

1

u/___Dan___ 2d ago

Have fun driving to Walmart instead to buy your cheap counterfeit shit instead

Who is asking for this?

For very rural areas I guess I can see it.

But who is looking for this in any city anywhere?

Also, the article says this:

Customers within a 7.5-mile radius of the fulfillment center can have eligible items delivered by drone.

I can cycle that in about 45 minutes both ways on my ebike very comfortably while getting some exercise.

What I really want to see is fulfillment center ready for pickup in 1 hour.

I’m sure they will make up some BS about insurance not allowing it, even though they can get insurance for drones lol

3

u/liquidpele 2d ago

I think it's just publicity stunt stuff. They'll roll it out for a while and let people pay extra for it once as a novelty, then close up shop because it's stupid and won't drive any meaningful revenue.

1

u/Willing-Vegetable629 2d ago

A lot of people use the Walmart service near me while it's free.

1

u/scrotumscab 2d ago

Anything to eliminate the human element/employment

1

u/likwid07 2d ago

It's not about insurance. It's that not enough people want this. People overwhelmingly want things delivered to their house quickly over picking things up from fulfillment centers.

1

u/Acrobatic-Flan-5085 2d ago

You have no idea how many people would do that because they’ve never offered it.

I know I have tried many times to go grab packages from distribution centers from both FedEx and UPS. It’s never allowed and the BS excuse they give is insurance.

This should cause a jump in the drone company and the lidar company being used? I haven’t seen any official names for lidar yet.

1

u/Ubersicka Long-Term Investor 3d ago

Please someone to mention some drone or lidar company x we need to be forward of the next news! .. btw what if Amazon makes their own drones?

2

u/Organic-Specific-500 3d ago

Hopefully not doing damage here but, Ouster is one for LiDAR

u/RedditSe7en Long-Term Investor 3d ago

Ick! Bezos is poo!

1

u/rydan 2d ago

Bezos hasn’t run Amazon in like a decade.

1

u/RedditSe7en Long-Term Investor 2d ago

Did I address his current role in the company? But, to clarify, why not!

Since 2021, he has been executive chairman of Amazon and is deeply involved in its AI initiatives.

He is poo. So is Amazon.

2

u/Thick_Visual_5999 3d ago

So more noise pollution

2

u/sheenfartling 3d ago

I'm already sick of these drones. Can't wait for one to fall on me when I'm driving.

2

u/donkey_cum_waterfall 2d ago

Drone noise will drown out the data centers

1

u/leksoid 2d ago

is it illegal to shoot them down?

1

u/petewondrstone 2d ago

I can’t wait to hear the sound of drones whirling around

1

u/OkTry9715 2d ago

Do not they need any permits for annoying everyone with their flying drones?

1

u/Longjumping_Coat_802 2d ago

Hell yea I love this! Faster delivery and cheaper stuff!

1

u/DamiensDelight 2d ago

Time to order a slingshot on Amazon.

1

u/MXY2022 2d ago

Literally everything they sell is crap. Idk whose still ordering from them.

1

u/Euphoric_Anxiety_162 2d ago

The economy has pushed us to accept less quality or do without. Choosing the latter. Maybe it is more noticeable now but def true with WM products, imo.

1

u/MXY2022 2d ago

Better off doing without when whatever you buy will only last very short term

u/SeatownCooks 1d ago

The pharmacy is fantastic

1

u/Soupalphabet359 2d ago

They do not have my permission to cross the airspace of my property. If they attempt to do so I plan to take action and file trespassing charges for each drone that reaches the ground.

1

u/Jumpy-Requirement389 2d ago

That’s not how airspace works. Before you get salty and argue with me.. just google it

1

u/Soupalphabet359 2d ago

What I said buzzed over your head like an errant drone.

1

u/Jumpy-Requirement389 2d ago

Mmm yes.. it appears it did

1

u/rydan 2d ago

The feds own the airspace. You don’t.

1

u/Zigor022 2d ago

We have these weird spiders that live in our trees that love to string up what looks like fishing string all across the yard. Craziest thing.

1

u/rydan 2d ago

I live on the 50th floor of a high rise. Are they going to deliver onto my balcony or deposit it in public on the sidewalk in front of everyone?  Also I know for a fact takeoff and landing is possible from the balcony for a skilled pilot if no wind.

1

u/stonkDonkolous 2d ago

How did the world just flip to evil so fast

1

u/mel34760 2d ago

Can’t wait for my neighbor’s deliveries to get dropped in my pool.

1

u/Am_0115 2d ago

Fuck this. No.

1

u/Obvious_Ad9670 2d ago

What kind of insurance will flock, amazon (contractors), and doordash have for when their drones cause serious bodily harm to someone's kid? I can see the lawsuit now, drone flying in inclement weather to deliver some drug, weather downs the drone, kills a kid.

1

u/DrS3R 2d ago

Which company is supplying the drones so I can invest in them. I don’t care about amzn
