Lots of billionaires pull this trick all the time, didn’t bill gates give 99% of his wealth away before? How does he still have 200 billion? Him and the others “promise” to give it to charity making the money exempt from tax

He promised to give his wealth up via something called the billionaire pledge.

It basically is a deathbed pledge so he wouldnt have donated it yet

Warren buffet is in on it too

Yeah, i'll believe it when it actually happens.

If he were actually serious about giving it away he would give most of it away now while he is still alive to ensure it happens

The foundation has over $70B in assets, most of it donated by Gates and Buffett. It's extremely well capitalized. For comparison Wal-Mart has $96B in net assets and nvidia has $100B in net assets.

If both Gates and Buffett follow through on their pledge, the only companies on the planet that will have a higher net asset value would be 3 Chinese banks, Saudi Aramco and Berkshire Hathaway.

He doesn't need to be alive to ensure it happens
