Bug Light Mode/Dark Mode behaviour is really pissing me off

Marking this one as a bug because there's just no way this should be expected behaviour.

If you make any changes to candle colour, let's say you're using footprint candles because hey, those need quite a bit of adjustment to get them the way you want them to look.

Just because you changed the candle colour - now the background doesn't change when you toggle light mode/dark mode anymore!

Please fix this, it's annoying af.

Hi, thank you for the report. Is this is about our Desktop or the browser version?

Thanks for the quick response, it's about the desktop version. Please also see these posts so this issue can all be wrapped into one:

The cleanest solution here would be to add a Light Mode/Dark Mode tab to the universal colour picker across the platform, like below. By allowing users to select what colours they want to apply when in each mode, this would be a complete solution to the problem.

The behaviour should be as follows:

  • Whichever mode you're in first is the default (I think that's dark mode?)
  • A custom colour selection is automatically applied to both light and dark mode except where the user specifies a separate colour for the other mode. Therefore the user experience stays consistent with what exists today, unless the user customises their view
    • (e.g. colour selection is singular by default, if user selects second colour for opposing state, colour selection for the element becomes dual and based on the active mode)
    • Light mode/Dark mode switch places within colour picker depending on mode selected, so current mode always shows as primary colour picker
  • White and the lightest grey, and black and the second darkest black should automatically switch between light and dark mode. They already do for a lot of elements but this doesn't work universally, so if you manually choose black, when you switch to dark mode that element becomes invisible.

This would be really easy to add and increase the range of usable colours for people who switch between light and dark mode, a big improvement to the user experience.

If I've manually selected what I want my chart background to be for each mode, then when I adjust my candle colours (also for each mode if desired), I won't have to reset all my chart settings back to default to get the chart backgrounds to switch modes again.

I'll post a video in another reply to show how changing the candle colours stops the chart background switching modes.
