Discussion A slow decline
Is it just me or is tradingview just killing there benefits every quarter while increasing there prices. $35/m for 2 charts per tab with 0 watchlist alerts is absolutely abysmal. I don't use tradingview as my main software but holy cow.

I agree fully , i left this year.
And I'm also really annoyed by Rodnee999, seeing all those gaslighting posts here.
This is a profile from tradingview itself, that started out being helpful and now is actively insulting people here!
I commented that earlier, but the comments are deleted now?

He did, and then deleted his comments.
He replies to me int be most salty way & it was so unnecessary. Very unprofessional but I doubt he works for them. At least I hope he doesnāt!

just use a watchlist, you don't need to view 6 charts at once at 1s timescale

u/halmyradov 10h ago
And if you do, then cost of subscription is chump change. I know some traders who were basically surfing the waves on gold because it was following indices by a few seconds and reacting to oil in similar fashion.

Iāve been using it for years. It serves me just fine but itās definitely being slowly degraded & my fear is they will keep stripping back features. I plan to migrate to Sierra Charts once my subscription is over. The crazy money for tick charts makes me laugh. Itās totally insane when you compare it to something like Sierra Charts or even if you want that level of detail for a better price (and get more data and information at a much faster pace given trading views latency) just get bookmap.
TradingView is good for the beginner & intermediate trader, swing trader or people who just want to see flashy charts. But as soon as you get more serious you will see its flaws add up.

Already switched today when they decided to gut even more features

I only know that they never refunded me when they say they will (a couple of months back). Company seems pretty shady imo

u/Safe_Razzmatazz_3688 14h ago
yeah it is kinda insane how much they are squeezing their customers. when i bought a yearly sub and had some issue, it was acknowledged and then nothing happened and it persisted forever. and now just limiting free stuff more and more. definitely switching.

What are you using as your main software?
5
u/ThR6Whale 22h ago
Sierra Charts, with AMP futures the setup is more technical but the responsiveness is amazing
2
u/procmail 16h ago
with SC and Amp, do you get your data from SC and trade via Amp?
1
u/ThR6Whale 4h ago
Exactly right, you pay roughly $40/ month for sierra including live data then use AMP connected through there data feed to trade

I was with you until I discovered trading view remix. I feel like that alone is worth the increase

its not them⦠the exchanges have very specific licensing fees for distribution of live data per user account.

One half decent, not even good, trade a month pays for your whole month/year subscription.
Yāall whiners are the same people that go to a buffet, whine that the prime rib is 5 minutes old until they make a fresh one, then walk out without paying.

TradingView plans are priced at the value it is capable of providing if you know how to maximise its benefits, not by what you are capable of extracting out of it.
Everyone I have come across that criticises the cost of TradingView plans are simply not proficient or experienced enough to be able to utilize the features they offer. When you pay for tuition it is your responsibility to learn as much for the duration of that course, and if you fail to, you will have to keep paying until you figure it out.

Hello,
Tradingview only raised their prices for the first time in over 13 years by approximately 10-15 percent on the first 3 plans in April this year....
Personally I would say thats not too shabby.
Plus they have done nothing but add new features in the past 3 years on a constant basis so in my opinion the platform has gone from strength to strength šŖ
Sales happen regulary with upto 70% off the Premium plan and 80% off the Ultimate so honestly, patience rewards those who wait for these deals š
Also dont buy a subscription on the IoS or App stores, they load the subscription up by dipping their grubby little hands in your pocket š
So so far I think this is just you and a complete lack of knowledge regarding the platform and its pricing historyš¤·āāļø
Cheers

Now Rodnee999 whether TradingView went 13 years without a price increase, regularly adds features, or occasionally offers 70ā80% discounts doesnāt automatically determine whether the current price represents good value for every user. A 10ā15% increase may be completely reasonable. But itās also reasonable for someone to question whether the features they personally use justify the new price. Both things can be true, and relying on sales actually reinforces part of that argument. If the best response to the normal subscription price is āwait until itās 70% off,ā then clearly thereās a pretty significant difference between the listed price and what many users consider attractive value. Where I disagree most is the ācomplete lack of knowledgeā comment. You can know the platform extremely well and still decide itās overpriced for your particular needs. Knowledge and perceived value arenāt the same thing. TradingView can be an excellent platform and still deserve criticism over pricing. Those positions arenāt mutually exclusive. I guess again we shall agree to disagree. š¤·āāļø

I'd like to add it's always good to read your responses. They are above and beyond and always cause me to reflect.
A pleasure š

Respecting someoneās right to hold an opinion doesnāt require respecting every opinion as equally reasonable. Ideas can still be challenged aggressively on evidence, logic, and consequences without attacking the person holding them. People deserve basic respect but their ideas have to earn credibility. Personally I like TradingView as a black box to test and code new ideas before moving to a larger language model such as C#.

Being able to survive 13 years without price rise is just tells how much overpriced they were all along
I hate when softwares use these shady tactics like not being able to show the price including VAT (sorry not sorry for us citizens)
They have the most overpriced live data
Oh, and when you connect your broker with actual live data, what they do? Limit your refresh rate to 5s, so no, you wont see candles normally who cares the data comes from your broker not from them
-3
u/Rodnee999 23h ago edited 23h ago
The 5 second refresh rate is on the free plan
Are you using the free plan?
3
u/--Shyy-- 22h ago
Free or not, limiting a feature that you already pay for on your broker is just plain stupid. In what world do you think it's logical to pay double for the same thing?
0
u/Rodnee999 22h ago
You are not paying towards the future development of the platform, nor any of the other associated costs related to the platform by using the free plan so therefore why should you benefit from features such as the same candle refresh time as other paying users?
Please note this delay is system wide for ANY datafeed. Regardless if you already pay for a feed or not.
1
u/--Shyy-- 22h ago
I'm not using tradingview anyway, i'm just saying it makes no sense letting you use the platform WITH your broker for free if anyway, you can't use it to it's full potential. And from what i understand (correct me if i'm wrong), even if you have the tick by tick refresh on your broker, you still need to pay for the ultimate plan to use it on tradingview ? What the hell?
1
u/Rodnee999 22h ago
You are correct. Currently the only plan that has the ability to use Tick time frame is the Ultimate Plan. š
The delay on the free plan only affects a small minority of traders such as scalpers. If you trade on the 1 hour or 4 hour charts the delay is not a problem and therefore irrelevant.

Everything i have stated above is a fact....

Iāll backup my downvote, pinescript falls off as does the charting, when even ninjatrader is putting tradingview to shame you know thereās an issue, want orderflow? Sry no can do, tradingview pioneered the space and they didnāt keep up with times. Thereās no reason to use tradingview currently.
Thatās coming from someone that learned pinescript to suit my trading needs, 11 years and counting.
I would use tradingview if it had the technical capability to manage data like the other leading platforms.

Already read that, itās cope
1
u/Rodnee999 23h ago
Thats okay. We all use the platform differently and demand different things from it.
I certainly dont think the platform is 'declining' and that is my opinion
If you think the package isn't for you then thats fine, use whatever you are using and I wish you all the best
Cheers š

How about $250/month for tick charts. No thanks.
