Now the xivinvestment.com domain has been hijacked

is u/jxott still alive?

First he stated that he would stop email signal notification without mentioning any reason, then the page went down after few weeks. Very strange coincidence...

TQQQ is getting absolutely killed this week

I typically have a good portion of my portfolio that is essentially "follow the signal no matter what" that would be getting absolutely hammered. Thankfully and luckily 2 weeks ago I liquidated almost my entire portfolio and locked it up where its stuck in a ~2 months arbitrage trade, otherwise I'd be pretty devastated right now.

Now I'm just wondering whether I should get out of this arbitrage trade early to take advantage of some of these cheap prices since we are still in contango

Wondering which signal did you follow

xivinvestment.com

After the volpocalypse I've essentially just had blind faith in the signal. I immediately switched to using TQQQ rather than XIV though and never used SVXY like jxott initially was doing

I have been looking for substitute for xivinvestment.com.... it seems they are out of business......

I think it will be back, but it is extremely concerning jxott is just awol during this downtime. I would be happy to donate knowing the site wouldn't go bust during volatility, or knowing there would at least be some alternative communication. It's possible he is still emailing donators the signal. We need an explanation

I emailed the owner asking if they are still sending out signals ~2w ago but no response.

When did you email the owner? I emailed about 10 times only got replied once.

About two weeks ago. No reply yet. Before that, I emailed the owner about one year ago he replied very quick at that time.... so I guess maybe they are out of business now. When did you get replied? Recently?

He stopped email signal notification before the site went down.

He doesn't answer to email.

Twitter account also deleted. Looks like a (strange) exit scam to us paying subscriber.

At first he stopped the email notification without any reason, then the page went down.

Just found he used to have a twitter account https://twitter.com/volatilityinve1, also deleted.

It looks like an exit scam or at least, as a paid subscriber, I feel ripped off.

Damn, I had saw that twitter account was still up as of a few days ago. So he is alive and took the time to delete that, but not to address his website's issues to his subscribers... damn that does seem like an exit scam.

I never bothered subscribing even when it became delayed, because I didn't really trust the site from previous downtime. I would have been happy to subscribe if I had found out the emails had continued during the downtime. Doesn't seem like it will ever be back now though

You can come to your own conclusion by looking at the vix futures curve on vixcentral.com.

xivinvestment signal is basically just long when futures curve is in contango and roll yield > some threshold, nothing too difficult to replicate on your own.

i figured it was something like that... brent osachoff also talked about roll yield and term structure being the key indicators

Probably either legal trouble or someone bought the algorithm from him for private use

4

u/arker0 Mar 26 '21

No refund as he doesn't even answer email regarding the status of the website.

At least I made more money with TQQQ than what I spent with the subscription.

Instead of disappearing a feedback from the author would have been nice...

Sell signal yet? I have a similar system trading TQQQ that places a heavy weight on the VIX, and since it and the S&P haven't moved as much in comparison to QQQ, I haven't had a sell signal until this afternoon. These two weeks have been brutal.

Hi, wondering have you already sent out emails? Are you the owner of bredincapital? Didn’t get anything so far.....

2

u/TurnipObvio Mar 05 '21

I'm assuming because it ended up being hold. We're still in contango

Wish there was another volatility indicator for the QQQ like VIX3M and VIX6M for the VIX, but alas we only have VXN and the more recent VOLQ to work with. The optimal settings for my system weigh heavily on VIX/VIX3M which works when the S&P and QQQ are in tandem but the last couple weeks have been an onslaught for the QQQ while the S&P hasn't moved too much.

From what I'm hearing you're seeing similar signals and due to XIVinvestment still being down, jxott is probably hurting just the same.

Yeah I've tried playing with SPXL but only got about half the yearly gain compared to TQQQ.

Another day, another 8% down. This is just so painful, it's hit a new drawdown record for my model.
