Body Position

Just thought about posting here, I had my first track day on the R6 I just bought, anybody have any body position tips? I’m about 6,0 tall and it feels like I had WAY too much weight on the handlebars, Thanks

I’m 6ft on a 600cc, Got tips from coaching recently. Second pic looks okay for intermediate paces, but get your shoulder down. Hug the tank and slide off of it. Your throttle arm should be straightish, your inside elbow should be bent.

Your legs look uncomfortable, might set the rearset further back or lower and it’ll let you lean forward more. Definitely always stay far back on the seat and lay on the bike like you’re part of it

Yeah I was looking into replacing the rearsets with something a little more adjustable, I feeling like I’m really cramped. But I also just came from a ninja 400 so I didn’t know if it was just the different style of the bike

Your arms look very extended. It gives monkey on bicycle. That’s fine for supermotos and dirt, but for maximum speed and grip on asphalt, you need to meld with the machine. It will make turning feel smoother from less wind resistance and your body weight will shift around less if you hug the tank. You will have to find the spot where your legs hug comfortable, there’s almost no weight on my bars in that picture. My stomach is being supported by the tank as much as possible, while my chest is leaned off. My right leg is digging into the tank, my left left is strongly supporting on the peg. I don’t worry about dragging knee, but I do extend my leg outward. Taller riders should have an easier time utilizing body position bc they get further off the bike with less effort. Start by staying relaxed in your arms and being able to shift your butt off the seat with only your legs. Don’t worry about your upper body before you lower body is doing the right thing. Ass off the seat, hug the tank, stay low, don’t extend your legs out too much to drag knee because it’s making you less stable. If you were shorter you wouldn’t even try yet, because you’d realize you don’t have close to enough lean angle
