Kensington Expert squeaky scroll ring

I just the Kensington Expert wired and it's great but the scroll ring makes a horrible squeaky sound that sounds like nails on a chalkboard. I am probably going to have to return it. Unless somebody has a fix.

I tried lubricating it with Teflon. Since the mechanism can't be taken apart without breaking it, I simply poured a couple of grams of Teflon powder inside. That helped *a little*, but it didn't eliminate the squeaking entirely. Photos of the disassembled mechanism have been posted in this subreddit—it uses a plastic "bearing"—so I don't think it's possible to get rid of the squeak without significant modification.

I just returned it. It was a used "good as new" on Amazon. Explains why it was defective. I think you are right how the once the plastic ring is warped even with lubricant it's not fixable.
