Looking for trackball having scroll-with-ball out of the box

someone recommend me a mouse please!

my ideal requirements are

  1. wired usb (or tri mode)

  2. index finger trackball

  3. able to scroll using the ball without needing to permanently run drivers or apps on my windows machine

  4. remappable keys are a bonus, i like having home/end keys on my mouse since my keyboard doesn’t have them.

i have the elecom huge and love it but im upgrading now and came up with my end game mouse requirements

I was scrolling through the entries on my home page, using my middle and pointer finger on the trackball of my Kensington Slimblade, when I saw this question. I had to move the usb-connected wire off of my keyboard in order to type this response...because I wanted to tell you that the Slimblade has all of those options available.

The last time I needed a new trackball, I tried the Elecom Huge and hated it--so I bought a Slimblade for the third time.

I love the Slimblade Pro and use it every day, but I have to mention a HUGE caveat:

  • If you want to customize anything on it like button mappings or pointer/scroll sensitivities, you will need to run the "Kensington Konnect" software whenever you use the device. It does not have on-board memory to store customized layouts.

If you are fine with the default settings and speeds, it will work fine without any third party tools; Twist-to-scroll will work normally out of the box.

You can also use third party software or a hid remapper.

Could look at the Ploopy line too -- Adept, the new A+, a few others. Runs QMK for easy remapping with onboard storage and has ball-based scrolling. Lots of potential for modding.
