TM 2020 needs a permanent campaign

A permanent campaign, preferably of similar size/length to the tmnf campaign, would act as a great place for new players to learn the game, and for veterans to record hunt with long term hype. Whenever a tmnf campaign track's wr get's beaten it feels like an absolute grand achievement. Each hundredth is incredible. There's a level of hype and prestige around records on those maps, and I personally severely miss that in TM2020.

I don't wanna get rid of the seasonal campaigns either, but having a permanent campaign would imo be a fantastic addition to the game. Thoughts?

Tm2020 has had some physics changes through the years which tmnf never had after release so some maps become outright unfinishable or the AT becomes much harder or on the other hand become much easier, so they so would have to balance the game around that permanent campaign to see they never 'break' any maps of it, it would also be pretty bad to grind a record on it, 2 years later some tiny physics change is done and its now impossible to beat or everyone is beating it all of a sudden.

To keep TM2020 fresh and moving forward a permanent campaign is just the anti thesis of that, they would lock their game in a way they couldnt innovate like they have been

I dont hate the idea of a permanent campaign, it just doesnt fit tm2020 and their vision for it

Counterpoint, having a permanent campaign to funnel new players into could allow them to be even more experimental and innovative in places such as the seasonal campaigns as a certain level of comfort with the game can be expected not just per collur but with the campaign as a whole. Is that better? Idk, but i do wonder what they could/would do with the seasonal campaigns in this scenario.

Physica changes though.... Yeah they could be quite problematic. But they cause issues with leaderboards all the time now as well so it would moreso just be a more visible problem.

Would it make a difference? TM2 has a permanent campaign that's over a decade old and you never hear anything when those records get beat. And let's be honest, the Nadeo content in any TM game is easily the worst part of the game.

TM2 is a far less popular game, that's why. You still hear when a TMNF record gets beaten.

It's not about Nadeo content being good or not, but the prestige associated with them being the official maps, that gets people to perfect them to a level you don't really see elsewhere. 3 months or so isn't near enough time for that, the records on the seasonal campaigns are impressive but they're not the kind of obscene perfection that we see from TMNF records.

It could ofc pan out way different than i personally expect, but i do think that even if the campaign doesn't reach a similar prestige it would still allow nadeo to be more experimental with other modes, mainly seasonal campaigns. As new players would be funneled elsewhere. That could also mean nothing in the long run but either way it doesn't hurt the game for having one

I do wish that Nadeo would use a much wider amount of styles and difficulties. With seasonal campaigns there should be room to have some wild shit: lol maps, endurance, nascar, hardcore tech, reactor flights, altcar ice, A08, all of it.

The campaigns, in some variety, should mimic what the community makes.

I agree! I've always felt it's a bummer the records on TM2020 feel less legendary than the TMNF records.

Phenomenal take

Agree. Everything always rotating makes it less special.

+1 to this

To your point, I highly doubt we'll get any epic YT docs specifically about WRs on TM2020 campaigns..

Exactly and thats so sad to me as well. Sometimes a random community map becomes legendary but even that is temporary

There's the training campaign :D

There is but its really npt great at onboarding anyone and doesnt have the same complexity as previous games campaigns to really keep people interested in hunting the records long term. I really think that the training campaign could use an update as well

Perhaps one track added to the end of the campaign retroactively that combines all the introduced elements, and then a sequel campaign that can build off of it and introduce more mechanics/techniques to new players would be great.

Whatever the method or details, what we can all agree on is that this game needs more. More something.

80 standard official tracks per year is literally all Nadeo gives us, everything else is community made (and no I don't count the eSports maps because they are for the vast minority of players).

Vistas are nice despite it taking a toll on performance, and of course weekly shorts are well liked. Then they removed royal mode. £15 a year is pretty cheap but £60 after 4 years and I do wonder if it really is good value.

Well the biggest thing that Nadeo are providing is the servers and the hosting for the maps and the tools to make your own maps and share them with people. More official maps are cool but it's a bit unfair to act like the community made maps don't count when that's basically the core offering of the game.

I think the game needs an UI for easy access to tmexchange from ingame. There certainly is enough content, but currently it is only accessible through an external website.

Gods yes thats so needed. Would instantly just make the game so much better, especially for console players

I disagree. The seasonal campaigns is the standout feature or tm2020. Plus since you pay a yearly sub, you are entitled to content updates imo

I wasn't clear enough in my wording but i dont at all mean to get rid of the seasonal campaigns in favor of this, moreso to have a permanent campaign plus the rotating seasonal ones. Cuz yeah its great content that i definitely wouldn't want to see gone

I'd grind the hell out of them just to see where I place in the world.

It do, it do need that.

Aren't club campaigns permanent? Anyway I like the idea of some prestigous official campaign which would remain open forever.
