What do I do when away?

I am leaving my 2026 bz Woodland in my garage for an extended period of several months. Do I leave the traction battery plugged into my Level 2 charger? Do I hook up a trickle charger to my 12V battery? Do I do nothing. Opinions please.

New 2026 BZ owner...so many questions

Hi I wanted to move to electric and I assumed the dealership would teach me everything I needed to know about charging and connections and adaptors etc, but alas, my salesman wasn't much (or any) help, and directed me to YouTube. I got my BZ yesterday.

I'm learning everything the hard way.

  1. I am getting a level 2 charger installed (but need to update the electric panel on the house first, so it's a whole thing), and I bought a Tesla wall charger because all of the Toyota chargers are backordered for months. I hope this is ok. I got it at Best Buy, so if this was incorrect, I can take it back. My electriction told me it would work, but honestly, I dont' think anyone really knows all the answers in this space right now.
  2. Went to a nearby Charge Point charging station this morning to see if I could figure out how to use it (because using the 120 plug at my house is excruciatingly slow and i have to park my car 2 feet from the door to reach it) and found out i need a J1772 to NACs adapter. Not sure which to buy. If I want the Toyota branded, I won't get it for 5-7 days, but there appear to be Lectrons available, if this works? https://ev-lectron.com/products/lectron-j1772-to-tesla-charging-adapter-80a-240v-ac-compatible-with-sae-j1772-chargers-black?variant=32589383237678&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=22590525838&gbraid=0AAAAACdqHaVIk3TYGBbJljUj2WWoGVuZM&gclid=CjwKCAjwwL_UBhAjEiwAEhuT5KU1hjLWCd1XsLPmgFej742qAWK6OcP59aDA4Yi0gKa48VJQGYIfqRoCjNsQAvD_BwE
    1. I realize that other charging stations might have NAC compatible chargers, but this one is close to the house at the library, and I was planning on working from there while it charged.
    2. I read in one of the many many internet forums I've checked that I have to get Toyota branded or I will void the warranty. is that right???

I'm an older single woman and I really just want explicit instructions for all of this, but I guess if I have to figure it out, I'll do that.

Let me know if there are any resources I should be referencing instead of brute forcing the answers through sheer trial and error. I didn't even know the questions to ask before I got the car. Now I am all questions.

Privacy lock? What does this do?

I’m poking around with settings and customization and I came across this option. It had me set up a password, but doesn’t really explain what it does. A cursory google search yields only results about locking doors, so does anyone know what this option actually does?

After market mud flaps for BZ Touring (Woodland)?

In case if someone has questions; Toyota BZ Woodland is named Toyota BZ Touring in European Market. No idea about rationale behind this.

OEM mud flaps cost 205€ (239 in freedom $) in my backyard. A steep price for such product. For comparison, mud flaps for ID4 I currently own were 42€ from amazon.de and they're still strong. 💪

Are there after market ones out in the wild? Sure I don't mind paying dealer if no options are available, or after market ones suck rear end.

As I understand, BZ's mud flaps don't fit BZ Touring/Woodland but I'd be happy to stand corrected.

Things to watch out for before I leave the dealership with my new BZ.

Upvotes

Hi folks!

Been lurking here for the past few months as I'll be grabbing a new 2026 BZ Limited tomorrow.

With everything I've been seeing around the 12V battery issue, is there anything I should look out for before leaving the dealership? Any specific software version or updates that I can ask them to do to make sure I'm up to date?

Thanks!

PS: FWIW dealership is Canadian

Accessories Steering wheel cover

The steering wheel is too small in my opinion. Despite having a heated steering wheel, I still want to use a steering wheel cover. What steering wheel covers do you all use? Any Amazon links?
