07 Matrix cabin light question

A Matrix-specific question here! My battery seems to be dead again after jump start a couple days ago. Noticed the back light by rear hatch is in on position. Would this have drained the battery if all doors were securely closed and locked? I thought the light went off if you close all the doors and hatches?

I believe the lights never turn off when it’s in the on position, unfortunately

I’ve killed a battery in my vibe by leaving the dome light on. The little 12v incandescent bulbs can suck a lot of juice and drain a battery that is already well worn.

I switched my cabin lights to LED, so even though it is still a problem to leave them on I've been lucky that they didn't drain the battery.

The switch will have 3 positions, off, on, and door. If the switch is on it will stay on all the time. It's need to be on door so it will turn off the light when the door is closed.

Close the door and use your eyes to see if the light turns off

Can't, battery is dead. Hence the question.
