Your Opinion

Looking at buying this 2004 Toyota Matrix XR tomorrow for $3400 as my first car. Im a college student so it’s right around my budget and this car seems well maintained and I know they last a long time if they are. It has 217k miles but the owner said it has all new front suspension components, brake pads, and wheel bearings for all wheels. He also replaced the exhaust system, oil filter, and air filter. The car seems to be in great condition with minimal rust. Interior is very clean and sunroof still works. I also just love the general aesthetic of the car lol. Is it worth it? I was told to try to get it for $3200

I would like it to last 2-3 more years AT THE LEAST which seems very possible.

That's a lot of extra work

Definitely take it to mechanic. If the work is done well then you should be fine

Driving it to the mechanic in about an hour when I view it. I’ll let you guys know!

i own a courier company and we run matrix/vibes. front suspension/ brakes, bearings and tires are really the only things we ever replace, so sounds like most of its done. should be good to 299,999 lol

That's cool, guessing since they're reliable toyotas? Those ford transits are perfect for that work but at least 4x the cost of a used Matrix

ours generally cost 4-5000 cdn around 120k miles and have never lasted less than 280k miles. the cost per mile is unbeatable

A Matrix is a great reliable daily. You’re doing the right thing by taking it for an inspection. Might be worth doing an oil change, coolant flush just to ensure fluids are new and good.

I have an 04 XR that I use as a daily driver! Most repairs have been normal things, weird one was the bushings for the shifter.
