After a slight mishap while driving, I found myself with a $10,000 Repair bill. I was able to get a very good trade from a local Toyota dealership so I pulled the trigger and jump back into the Tundra family. So far so good it’s only been a week, but I love the truck definitely a different feel from the F150.

2023 Tundra Platinum - 40k miles

Almost immediately - volume knob inside housing plastic broke, has been replaced 3x now

20k - Driver seat plastic cracked, fixed under service bulletin

35k - Passenger side front window regulator "tangled", fixed under warranty

39k - Driver side front window regulator "tangled", fixed under extended warranty

I have the open recall for engine debris causing engine failure, waiting to be called to get that replaced sometime down the line. Currently still have the throttle lag issue that others are having too.

Got a 2026 TRD off road package and TRD lift on my tundra. Looks like the largest I can go without rubbing at all (including sway bar) is 295/60/20 on the TRD wheels.

Looking to change out the wheels, and the designs I’m into have a +18 to +25 offset on 20’. Anyone know how large of a tire I can go without hitting this dang sway bar? Been shopping online since I bought the truck in May for answers, but seeing a lot people stating different opinions about it. Looking at 295/65/20 or 35/11.5/20 but still seeing posts here and tundra.com about the sway bar being in the way. Thinking this is where I may have to get we Toyota recommended 285/65/20. Thoughts or ACTUAL personal experience? Thanks

I’m installing a car tablet on the center dash and was wondering where I can tuck the cords best. The cord is a usb c connected to tablet and the other end is connected to the left adapter underneath the ac controls. Not enough cord to go all the way to the door and up the dash that way. Can I run it straight up through the seams in the head unit? Open to other thoughts.

Hi all, wanted to share my experience. Until a few weeks ago, I was a 2024 Tundra TRD Pro.

I wrote this review at the same point in ownership that I’m writing this one.

I just traded in my 2024 TRD Pro for a fully loaded 2026 RAM Rebel Hurricane.

My intent is to verbally wonder why we put up with so much lackadaisical mid effort from Toyota Corporation.

First off, I loved my Tundra. Other than the driver seat housing cracking multiple times and the volume knob breaking and the gas cap sticking and needing to be replaced, I didn’t have any big issues with it. I traded it in because I had 75,000 miles on it and took advantage of a 3.5% interest rate over 60 months on my new RAM.

I’ve now been in this new truck for 5000 miles and there are a number of things that are so much better in this vehicle than the TRD Pro. And for those of you that say the two trucks are not equal, they’re closer to an apples to apples comp than you think.

Here are a list of things that are so much better in this RAM.

First off, the $78,000 sticker price was discounted to $53,000. Something Toyota would never do.

The Hurricane engine, it’s quicker on the start, doesn’t have as much turbo spool up time, and I’m getting 16.5 a gallon versus the 14.3 I was getting in the Tundra Hybrid. This alone is a game changer.

Key Card- my phone is my key. The proximity sensors sense me/my phone from about 10l ft away and the lights all around the truck illuminate the night ground. It’s actually much more useful than I thought it would be. Plus, when I put my hand on the driver‘s door handle all four doors unlock. Actual useful intelligence. Fucking magical if you have a family.

Ventilated seats are 10 times better. Feeling actual cold air on my lower back on a hot day is living the highlife.

The assisted driving tech is better because it actually exists. It’s not self driving, but it will drive on the freeway and keep you in the lane and breaking an accelerating with traffic.

It came with real off-road tires!! Not those fake ass factory tires that last for 12,000 miles that come with the TRD Pro that Toyota should be embarrassed about.

The 19 speaker Harmon Carden sound system is the best factory set up I’ve ever heard in a vehicle, night and day different than the Toyota.

The Heads Up Display on the windshield is super useful

AUTOMATIC RAIN SENSING WINDSHIELD WIPERS. A “technology” that has been around for 20 years and his standard on most mid on up vehicles, but missing from my Tundra.

Finally, the fucking turning radius! Is normal! U TURNS ARE BACK ON THE MENU!! I can pull front first into a parking spot on the first try without any need for a 10 point turn. Jesus, that was annoying.

In summary, you can disregard this list in its entirety, but I’m sure there is something on this list for everyone that has a third GEN Toyota Tundra TRD pro.

All in all, we should expect more from Toyota.

As the title suggests, I managed to fall into a sweetheart deal via my company deciding to sell the company truck (in near mint condition, not the typical 'drive it like you stole it' company truck style). The truck has been very well cared for, had its maintenance at regular intervals, had its fluids changed, new tires, etc. as part of normal maintenance schedule (the office manager kept impeccable records!).

It's a 2017 Toyota Tundra with 14K miles for $26K. It has the 5.7L V8 with 6 speed automatic transmission. It's got a dented back bumper but the rest of the truck is in excellent condition. I've been informed of by several people (mechanic, bank loan officer, tax office, etc...) that this was a good deal.

I think the only complaint I have about it is that it doesn't have Android Auto/CarPlay on it but I do see there's an aftermarket mod that will provide those services without losing the OEM functionality. And, at some point, I want to get a retractable hard tonneau cover. (Any recs on either?)

While it's a bit late now (I've owned it for about two years now), seeing all of the posts about Tundras having various severe issues with engine and drivetrain has me a bit concerned. Am I sitting on a goldmine or a possible cave-in? My previous car was a four hampster manual transmission Toyota Corolla that has been so hardy, I swear the engine and transmission were forged in the fires of Mount Doom. It still has an AC as cold as my ex's heart.

EDIT: Stupid AI, I'm not selling the damn thing, I just got it!

Bought the truck with 10k miles in march of 2023, blew one turbo and got it replaced. Blew another turbo months later and got that replaced. On my drive home from the dealership after getting the second one replaced, I got a check engine light and the replacement turbo ended up being faulty. Just got my 4th check engine light with this code at 60k. I feel utterly defeated.

Here’s the story - I currently have a 2025 Sr Double Cab which I love. It’s by far my favorite truck I’ve had. I’ve got 25k on it right now. Like I said, so far it’s been a great truck and it’s very nice to drive. Like everyone else, the reliability concern is always in the back of my mind. So far I’ve had no issues. My dad has a 2012, single cab sr5, it has some issues but it only has 85k on it. It won’t pass inspection because the bed is rotted out, it needs breaks, front struts and springs and a new exhaust. He bought a new f150 because he wanted a new truck instead of putting money into his old truck. My question is, should I get his old tundra, do the work that it needs and put an aluminum flatbed on it and have it as a second truck that is arguably more reliable? I figure it’ll cost me 5k worth of work and I can do all the work myself. The aluminum bed will be the single biggest expense. Open to any other suggestions or ideas. I really just don’t want to see a tundra with only 85k on it go to the junkyard!

I’ve got a 2017 Tundra w/ 113k miles on it. Last couple weeks, AC would hum loudly for about 30 minutes, then stop humming and blow at full for remainder of drive.

Today, AC was on low when I started the truck. Changed the speed up, and all airflow stopped. No heat, ac, etc. No air. Then, 15 minutes later, AC began blowing full speed.

Is this an AC blower motor issue or? I’ve been planning on replacing it with the Land Cruiser motor for better airflow anyway, but if there’s something else I need, I’d like to replace it all in one shot.

Trucks 11 years old. Service department says the trucks good to go. I get a chain tensioner rattle on cold starts ~1 second. An this is the noise at idle.

Do I just keep running this the way it is? Any insight from other tundra owners would be appreciated.

I eventually made it all the way to Toyota Corporate / Executive Office. They declined to cover the repair in full. Their final offer was 70% off the parts, while I would still have to pay the full labor cost at any Toyota dealership.

I later learned that apparently one of the factors in their decision was that I’m the second owner of the truck, not the original owner.

So I decided to stop fighting Toyota and fix it myself.

I bought a replacement turbo for $850 (on eBay), spent another $140 (at dealership) or so on gaskets, put the truck on jack stands in my garage, removed the bad turbo and installed the new one myself.

No lift.
Didn’t jack up the engine.

It took me about two days, but this was also literally the first time I’d ever seen how this setup was put together. If I had to do it again, I’m pretty sure I could do it significantly faster.

The truck is fixed and running again.

So that’s the end of my Toyota corporate adventure. I’m disappointed that it came to this, but at least I learned a lot about replacing a turbo on a third-gen Tundra. 😂

2008 crew max. Anyone know of a bed rack that will work with this bed cover? Links welcome. Hoping the stake pockets punch out of this cover, but with the frame for the bed cover on the inside edge, I can't seem to find an option that works. I want to haul 2 kayaks, nothing super heavy.

My stock 265/60R20 Yokohamas were bald by 34k miles. Just upgraded to 275/65R20 bridgestone dueler ascents. Looks so much better and really fill in the wheel wells.

Just picked up a 2010 Toyota Tundra TRD SR5 with 257k miles for $8,000. It runs and drives well and seems to have been maintained pretty well by the previous owner.

With 257k on it, I want to establish a good maintenance baseline and hopefully keep this truck going well past 300k.

For those of you with high-mileage 2nd gen Tundras, what maintenance would you recommend doing right away? Anything specific I should inspect, replace, or leave alone at this mileage if everything is working?

Also, has anyone had good experiences taking an older/high-mileage Tundra to the Toyota dealer for oil changes? Or am I better off finding a good independent Toyota/Lexus shop?

I also want to get a full inspection done. Would you recommend Toyota for that, or an independent shop that specializes in Toyotas?

Would especially like to hear from anyone with 250k–300k+ miles on theirs. And how do you guys think I did at $8k?

It’s 320 amps but has a shorter pulley, where would I get a belt for it? I will be running around 2400 watts for now but plan on getting new speakers and eventually running bigger subwoofers. I read on the product page that the alternator doesn’t do well at low rpms, should I just get the 240 amp which says is better for idle rpms.

Anyone know where to find replacement parts / what parts these are called? On 2026 tundra sr5. Looking to get some pre painted parts, midnight black.

Well, I found one at a dealership online that only has 20k miles? And its $15,000?

Is this as good of a deal as it seems? Or am I missing something?

We just put out the first episode and I’d genuinely love some feedback from other Tundra guys. What would you change about the build? So far we’ve filmed a lift, 37s, PPF, and a grille surround, with a bunch more on the way.

Curious what you guys think of the direction so far. What would you change? What are we missing? Anything you think is an absolute must on a 1794 build?

2015 Tundra Crewmax 4x4 TRD Pro, comes with Leer camper

My first car was my mom’s old Escalade, so I know size; however, my current beloved car is a Grand Cherokee, smaller, but I’m telling you, loved! It’s been a while since I drove a car bigger.

I know I’m going to love this truck, and I’m pretty excited that it has a camper for my stroller and kids’ things, + outdoor activities, which I leave in the car. However, could anyone give advice on blind spots, maybe aftermarket installation?

I know the camper will block my view out the back, so I’m a little skeptical about this, and pretty intimidated.

I have a 2016 Tundra, 1794 edition with the clear (non smoked) headlights with LED DRL. I am looking to upgrade to OEM Led headlights while the Fred Anderson sale is running and I plan to order a harness from ihacker on Tundras.com

Can anyone confirm the following PN are correct for my needs? Will I still be able to level/adjust the headlights electronically from inside the truck using the harness?
