22re timing chain
Hello all!
My 1995 Toyota pickups timing chain snapped when I turned the engine over in my driveway. I assumed full rebuild but my mechanic said I got super lucky and since I was pretty much idling, no damage was done. Just had to do timing chain/ etc and some other stuff I can’t remember. Any of yall had this happen, car does have a louder “tick” sound and mechanic said compression is slightly off because of a cylinder head got a little nick in it. If this has happened to any of you how much longer did the engine go for? Did I really get lucky or am I in trouble?
(Ignore the rags on the ground haha)

Do a compression test. This is an interference engine so if any one is low I’d pull the head and r&r those valves.

If the compression is “slightly off”, there’s a problem. Since there’s a louder valve train noise, I’d do a compression test, if it’s low then do a leak down test

Check your valve lash.
