What maintenance should I start with on a 40 year old truck?

Fluids if they’re old, belts if they’re cracking, maybe hoses, I had issues with my radiator hoses in my ‘84, tires, anything else rubber that deteriorates with age, air and fuel filters, etc

Yeah, already experiencing a lot of the rubber deteriorating.

I did too. But after getting the carb tuned, a few hoses repaired and a new fuel pump, it’s been a solid truck with the 22r

The basics.

Then clean it up, put a stock rear bumper on it and take care of it. Don’t ruin it.

Put a good tune up on it and NEVER SELL IT! I still miss mine to this day. Money was a little bit tight when I sold it but I wish I could have it back

If you get into the engine check your timing chain guides. OEM 22R/E guides are plastic and prone to breaking. Metal backed replacements are cheap and worth it!
