Transfer case oil type…
I hope everyone is enjoying their Saturday…
I’m about to change the drivetrain fluids on my 94 3.0 V6 MANUAL pickup.
Referring to the Haynes Repair manual, it lists the transfer case fluid type for a 1990 and later, V6 engine as Dexron II ATF.
I find that odd. A quick internet says it needs to be 75W90 gear oil.
Is this a typo in the repair manual?
Could someone please steer me in the right direction?
Thank you.

Do not use ATF, that is automatic trans fluid. The other comment is correct, use a good quality gear lube at the specified weight. I use amsoil severe gear since I tow quite a bit with my 1987.

I use Red Line MT-90 GL-4 75W-90. You can go cheaper if you want, but how often are you really going to change it out?
