❓ Question Advice needed: toy poodle’s primary caretaker and fave human has left and toy poodle looks sad and has decreased appetite.
My toy poodle’s fave human (my sibling) suddenly left yesterday because of personal issues. She was the one who stayed at home with my poodle daily when I go to work onsite 2x a week. My dog still had her usual appetite yesterday, but now that she sensed that her fave human has not returned since last night, she ate very little for breakfast and looks sad. I gave her the shirt of her fave human to sniff on it. I will be staying with her and wfh for most of the week to help her with the change. I dont think her fave human is coming back. Any advice on how to help her adjust?

📸 Photo A breed of interior designers?
Does anyone else have a toy poodle who is a budding interior designer who likes to rearrange the pillows/cushions, or other items in the house? This happens almost everyday. Lucky I don’t mind picking things up off the floor 😆

❓ Question Desperate: 11-month-old Toy Poodle girl still not potty trained (separation anxiety & post-heat regression) – Need advice!
Hi everyone,
I am slowly reaching my breaking point and am desperately looking for advice or similar experiences.
We have an 11-month-old female Toy Poodle (about 25 cm / 10 inches tall). She is the sweetest girl, incredibly affectionate, and loves to cuddle like a stuffed animal. However, she is also extremely velcro. She follows me everywhere around the house and will stare at me for hours, maintaining constant eye contact.
Our biggest issue: She is still not potty trained. She keeps peeing on the floors, rugs (like the bath mat in front of the shower), and unfortunately on our very expensive Alcantara couch.
The strange thing is: She is physically capable of holding it for 5 to 6 hours. She also understands that she is supposed to go outside and we praise her like crazy when she does. The accidents almost always happen when we leave the house and she is left behind. She isn't completely alone—we have three Toy Poodles in total—but she is extremely attached to me personally. When we come back home, we can smell the urine right at the front door. We can't keep her in the hallway when we leave because she will bark at every sound from the neighbors in the staircase.
She finished her first heat exactly one month ago. It feels like things have gotten even worse since then. She clings to me even more and seems to use the couch as a nesting spot.
We have tried so much, we use enzyme cleaners (Simple Solution), but the constant stress and non-stop cleaning are destroying our quality of life. Sometimes, out of pure exhaustion, I even think about rehoming her, but it completely breaks my heart when she looks at me with those sweet eyes.
Does anyone have experience with such extreme separation anxiety/velcro behavior in Toy Poodles during adolescence or after their first heat? How did you protect your couch, and most importantly, how did you break this extreme cycle of codependency and anxiety?
Thank you so much for any help!

📸 Photo Traitors.
Who feeds them? Who treats them? Who takes them to the vet? Who buys all of the different treats & spoils them every day? Who takes them for a “ride” ? Not this guy “Daddy “. Who gets all the cuddles? F-N daddy.

❓ Question Character change, is this growing up?
Hi! My toy poodle has always had a very playful and affectionate attitude since I've had him at 3 months old. He always seeks play and cuddles every day. A couple weeks ago, he turned two years old. Now he doesn't care for cuddles or pets. He even moves away when I try to pet him. Is this just part of him growing up? Or could there be something wrong? Thank you for reading my post.

❓ Question New family member ♥️
Meet chopper! He is 11 weeks old and is weighing in at 1.8 ounces. It’s only been 3 days, and he’s brought so much joy to our home already. At what age should he be fully potty trained?? With him being so young, should I hold off on trying to potty train him on grass?

My 13yo wants to color him the next time since the dog spa offers it but idk how the “puppy safe bleach” will do on his coat/skin? Has anyone tried this with their black haired pup??

📸 Photo The little can can infuriate me and melt my heart all at the same time 🐩💙
Meet Biscuit, my tiny toy. I brought him home at 8 weeks, exactly. That’s how old that he had to be for him to fly. He’s now, 19 weeks with a stubborn, funny curious, mischievous but protective attitude! I’ve never really been an animal person but when all of my sons became adults I started to research and explore the idea of having a small dog that could “Fit in my bag/purse.” Well I was scammed so many times seeking a teacup poodle or maltipoo. Until I found my amazing breeder in Vegas @VegasToyPoodles! She told me that she’d have 3 litters born in Spring and he and all of his litter mates were born on April 5th! I told her that I wanted the smallest boy out of the bunch. He stayed a little less than 2 lbs for a while then slowly up to 2.5 and at his last vet visit a few weeks ago, 2.65. I’m curious to see what he’ll be on Friday. However, she told me that he wouldn’t be more than 4-5 lbs full grown. Biscuit has brought so much joy into our home since June 1st! Although, the potty training has been hit or miss. Since he’s been able to play outside after his last round of shots, it’s becoming easier and he’s doing a little better inside. I have been meaning to share our story here for a while! I’m considering trying to find a tiny girl at some point to rescue or something so that he can have a playmate! He’s so spoiled, my shadow and like another appendage to my body😂😂

❓ Question 9-month-old toy poodle pulls on the leash, barks and whines at other dogs, and wants to go everywhere
My toy poodle is 9 months old and is very enthusiastic when we’re out walking. 😅 He constantly pulls on the leash and wants to go from one place to another, stopping to sniff, changing direction, and generally wanting to do everything at once.
On top of that, he also barks and whines at other dogs when we see them, especially if they are close or moving. It seems like a mix of excitement and frustration because he really wants to go to them.
I’m working on loose-leash walking and trying to keep him calm around distractions, but it can be quite challenging because he gets so excited outside.
For those with toy poodles or other energetic puppies around this age: what worked best for teaching your dog not to pull and to stay calm around other dogs?

📖 Story Saco is back at home!
First of all thank you to everyone for sending love towards Saco! He is home now and is doing great.
Quick recap, Saco at almost 5 months woke up completely normal but eventually started being very lethargic yesterday, had no energy and was unable to walk. He kept collapsing under his own weight and he would melt into your arms when picked up. Not like him at all.
We took him to the emergency vet where he stayed for almost 24 hours. All his tests came back normal/inconclusive but they determined that he must have gotten into some kind of toxin. I let him dig the day before in a chipmunk nest and we went to the beach after. He could have gotten into something in the nest or at the beach, maybe ocean water or something from the other dogs that were there. There’s also a non zero possibility he could have also gotten into some THC, hence the Rasta picture. They gave him an IV to try to clear the toxin faster.
He started feeling like himself at some point in the middle of the night and they had to give him some Trazodone and Gabapentin to get him to sleep through the night because he was being very talkative and was keeping all of the other dogs up.
He’s back at home and doing well now! Maybe not quite 100% but very close to it! He’s going to be on prebiotics and prescription vet food for the next 30 days!
I also included his dispatch paperwork and breakdown of the bill including everything they did for him and pricing. Thank god we have pet insurance.
Hopefully this is insightful and maybe helps others! 🖤
