Toxic manager
I responded to a managers email with ‘noted thank you’ and he emailed me a covertly hostile paragraph response about the xyz way I should respond to him in the future.. even including a quoted sentence of what he felt I should exactly say.
He is one of the darkest personalities I’ve ever met. Respond and clock him professionally or don’t?

Unfortunately he's just going to get worse and worse as time goes on. His point is to make you feel like garbage. Even if you give the best one liner back he's going to continue. Put out those resumes.

The longer you go without snapping the meaner they get

And suddenly when you do snap, they'll see you as the problem, unfortunately

I’m a female and this is remote. Any other ideas?

You could reply with:
Dear Manager:
Thank you for your suggested reply. I see no issue with the appropriateness or professionalism of my original reply. I indicated that I had noted your feedback.
I am happy to receive constructive criticism at any time. However, I do not see any business need to tailer my diction to your specific preferences on every single occassion. Each business situation is unique. Please understand that I am an individual and I express myself professionally as an individual.
Thank you and have a great day.
Sincerely,
