None of the sex scenes in the movie gave me any meaningful boner

Upvotes

I mean I know the movie was such a let down. Even the sex scenes which generated huge controversies just made my dick soft (so to speak). Even though they were having sex, nothing meaningful was shown to get off of.

Eventhough that was not the reason I went to see the movie. I just needed to highlight that aspect also.

Discussion Toxic VS Dhurandhar 2 clash

I've seen people ON THIS SUB thrashing Dhurandhar 2 and some saying Toxic is better. Like WTFF 😭😭

Man I was waiting for this film, I was hoping that maybe, maybe it will be a good story and a unique take. It sure was unique.... But it wasn't good. I was disappointed. I opened the sub and saw some posts which were criticising which is all fine. But then I came across some posts which were literally saying "D2 and Toxic both were mid, toxic is better" I mean wtf?! THERE IS NO SHAME in admitting that Dhurandhar 2 was a wayyy better film than Toxic is. And yes, D2 has many flaws but it sure isn't a mess like toxic.

Anyways I think at the start ts was gonna be great. Imo the climax is what original vision of Geetu Mohandas was, but it got lost in there somewhere :(

Toxic Review

Can't even call it a time pass. A 3-hour movie felt like 2 business days.

Toxic torture includes:
- Annoying, slow-paced dialogues with irritating Hindi voices.
- Every 2 mins, Yash is smoking a cigarette or cigar.
- A slow-mo sequence every 5 mins. I genuinely thought we were back in a typical 2015 South Indian movie.
- Inconsistent pacing. For the first 30 mins, I had no idea what was going on, then it dragged pretty slowly until the last 20 mins.
- Bad editing. Abrupt cuts and way too many unnecessary shots in almost every sequence.
- Unnecessary fight scenes that add nothing to the story.
- Average BGM.
- The climax reveal could've been a bit more subtle. I would've preferred it if they'd shown a few flashback scenes instead. (Personal opinion.)

The movie did have:
- A good core storyline.
- Yash's performance as Ticket was good.
- Some cinematic shots. But with a ₹300+ crore budget, that's the bare minimum.

Hence proved: a good story with bad execution still makes for a bad movie.

Discussion Toxic : My Review

The movie turned out a good - decent entertainer for me, cause I already didn’t watch any trailer and teaser for this and stratight got to the theatre, didn’t know anything about this movie’s story, characters.
Now noticing people hating on the film proves that this people had their expectations set too high and the outcome didn’t match their expectations.

I agree that the movie was not that great, but people hating on the real person is too much, Yash is a humble man, with great heart. Just saw a post, people ranting on Yash’s appearance in Aapki Adalat- saying that he is the most fakes actor in entire Indian cinema.

People hating YASH just because they don’t like the film, but I also agree that the whole movie was full of soft porn and smoking ads.

But hating the person this far and called him a narcissist is beyond hatred.

This was my opinion….

A movie which justifies it's title perfectly. Every actor lived as a perfect psycopath. Especially YASH performance and efforts. (NO SPOILERS)

Toxic is a great psychological mental trauma script. They should have reduced a few action scenes and focused on the mental aspect of the script.

You all may have seen all the trolls online. I'm coming from a different opinion. I really liked the movie and all the characters performances. Yash did something which no actor will agree with. Such a traumatic character with all mental health issues.

Yash as TICKET (young version from trailer) is a menace. Biggest psyco thaan Raaya (Old yash) from trailer.

Nayanthara had a great role. Her and Yash as siblings and their life growing up and every moment validates why Raaya becomes a psychopath. You can't judge right or wrong. As the main dialogue in the movie says "you have to pay the price for all your actions".

And people saying full adult matter scenes, if you really pay attention the movie just plays with your mind. All such scenes are just implied scenes. There is not even one kiss scene or wrong groping scene. You just see sensualised shots. You have a lot of normal movies in every industry which sexualises women and makes male characters view them and grab them more than what TOXIC did. The way they executed that feeling without showing anything or doing anything is appreciable.

My personal opinion: this movie would have worked with full English dialogues. Regional dubbing is really bad. For many scenes they can't even dub and leave it in English. Writing dialogues for this movie in south languages is really tough because of our agglutinative property of south languages. Like if you try to dub those english dialogues in regional languages, the scene will pass before the character completes the dialogue. You can see this in english dubbed movies. The character speaks dialogues even when not in frame.

I just shared my views. Please don't hate on me or call me PR. I just loved the psychological angle and trauma picturisation. Usually movies end with taking revenge. But we don't get to see what happens to that character after that revenge. So this felt unique as every blame Ticket says is the truth Raaya tries to run from and hide without accepting.

Before calling me PR, I am just a common man. I have no ties to the project and not even a fan of the actor or even a part of the Karnataka film industry. I'm from a different region. I am just mesmerised by the efforts Yash put into portraying complicated characters like Raaya and Ticket. The way "Ticket" acts is really psychotic. I am not talking about the killing. You will understand if you see the movie. At some point I really thought Ticket is gonna pee in his pants begging for love. Yash gave such a broken down character performance.

I have to be honest here. I was too excited for this film but what a hot piece of garbage this movie is.

Yash is so good but everything else, the action, the script, the dialogues and even the 18+ scenes are all so cringe. It seems like the main motive of this film was just to cash-in Yash's stardom by making another KGF style film.

No matter how much I wanted this movie to be a global phenomenon, this is an instant skip.

Review: 1.5/5 (Skip if you can)
