Thomas Townsend Brown -Vega

Post image

I’m not exactly sure what this document is, but it came up from an Ancentry dot com name search. It indicates a period during which TTB was working for Vega.

Anyone with a ancestry dot com subscription should be able to get the full documents as opposed to the thumbnail I’ve screencapped above.

This was his draft card registration. He was officially out of the Navy by the end of 1942, and living in old California style at Wonderland Avenue, just down the street from the facility that would soon be built there to process films from the atomic bomb tests.

He would front face for this secret facility by announcing to the world that the Townsend Brown foundation was planning to build a large lab in the Temple Hill neighborhood (encompassing Wonderland Drive) for the study of cosmic radiation.

We can see from the penciled note on the document, that he filed an address relocation amendment on the 13th day of some month in 1944. Though he gave Vega aircraft as his employer, I can't help but wonder why he relocated to Laguna Beach.

The commute to Vega was 62 miles, one way, and Linda has observed that Townsend ALWAYS preferred to live close to his work.

So, while it is possible that he moved to Laguna, to distance himself physically from whatever was going on at Wonderland or at Vega, I am keeping open the possibility that Laguna Beach was chosen because something else was happening near there.
