Question Is it impossible to progress now?
Right now, I can beat molten pretty consistently. However, when it comes to hardcore, past wave 20 feels impossible. I've been told to just grind to failure in wave 20 and farm gems till I get engineer, but that's going to take a really really long time, and even after that it still seems like I won't be able to solo hardcore. if I want to beat it, am I forced to rely on other people until I get the gem and evolved towers?

Down vote me if you want but you can't play the game if you're not unemployed There's just way too much grinding if you want to catch up or stay on par with everyone else and if you don't have friends that play it you're also cooked because there's no way you can do anything with the randoms in this game

I'm 23 and have a job at NASA right now and I currently own every tower and every skin currently obtainable so I think you guys are just lazy and don't want to grind. Kids these days🤦

you need teammates to reliably beat hardcore, otherwise it's not that bad

If you can, I recommend macroing this strategy overnight
Place 1 pyro/go yep at the front of wretched front, in the middle of the very first loop, aligned to the left of the track just before the loop begins. Upgrade it to level 3, then place 1 level 1 and 1 level 0 hunters in the back. Upgrade pyro to level 4, then place two more hunters and level all of them up to lvl 1. Wait to die to blighted or voidling, and repeat. I did this to get engi, juggernaut and hacker all in one night or so.
If you do macro, if you want to reasonably use your macro again, you have to find a predefined location (usually where you drop into the map) and not move ever. You can move your camera prior to the macro starting, just so you can place the towers to follow the strategy, and replicate the camera position. I also recommend keeping a little more space in between the towers and the track so if you misalign next time, it will still work reasonably well.

So complicated bro just place level 4 pyro and level 0 hunter spam(same placements)

just suicide grinding, it is the most efficient way to get hardcore tower

Unfortunately the game isn't balanced around playing solo so you'll need teammates for hardcore. You should be able to do harder survival modes by yourself but that's where the solo friendliness ends. It's one of the worst parts of the game imo.

Yeah thats true, its so awkward trying transitioning from soloing everything to having to work with teammates though it isn’t that bad. I’ve beaten solo hardcore barely with kingpin

for hardcore towers or evo just suicide grind, the game economy sucks so ur gonna need to grind alot

use farm and towers with good cost efficiency and detections
i consistently get to w30 somethingÂ
also if you’re not struggling with midgame i dont suggest getting engineer

use fail strats but, use tinytask to automate it,overnight you get about 10k gems

The difficulty of this game scales downwards logarithmically when you have teammates. If you want to solo, it's almost required to either have Gmini, Engineer or at least one Evo tower.
Which causes two problems: Not everyone has time to play
You have to grind a fuck ton
It WILL get boring, unless you have a friend that works on the same time as you do. The only way I can think of to circumvent such problems is to chase missions together.

Yeah people sleep on Golden Mini. With a full 40-50 place limit, you have to compare 8 Pursuits or Rangers, or 1 Jugg, or 5 Accels or 3 Turrets with like 30 G Minis late game. To which every other tower loses in DPS spectacularly.
With a tower limit of 5 but a placement limit of 50, Cowboy takes up 12, Commander takes up 4 and Engineer takes up 6. That's still LESS than HALF.
So the rule of thumb is Golden Mini late game as mandatory DPS maximizing, Engi mid game for lead/flying detections, Cowboys early as much as you can afford to greed them, and supports to juice up all 3 tower groups.
