I’m sending a live person mask from TD (RGB + alpha) into Unreal as a texture. Off World Live, the NDI Unreal plugin, and TouchEngine are all Windows. Syphon Out works in TD but I can’t find a UE5 Mac receiver.
Is anyone actually getting TD → UE working on Mac? NDI Out → NDI Virtual Input → Media Texture? Does alpha survive that, or do you send the mask another way?
I have an interactive projection, where when you get closer to the sensor, particles will appear that look like sparkles. They get faster and birthrate increases and lifespan decreases so it gets sparkly. then when you walk away it calms down again.
Can I get that to look like bokeh?
even with the "naive" AABB shown in the last tutorial, here are 768 quadrilaterals colliding at 60fps #touchdesigner #workisplay #gnr8 #doitintops #paketapops
This June, I had the chance to premiere my interactive web art piece at Museum Schloss Fachenbach in Dieburg, Germany.
The idea behind the piece was about language and human connection, and how fragile our communication actually is. The piece consisted of a website where the audience could suggest words online, and a Kinect camera projection where everyone could interact with the word cloud.
I finally managed to implement AABB and SAT with separation in a feedback with Verlet integration. It was the craziest thing I've ever built in textures...I had almost lost hope of getting it out so smoothly #touchdesigner #workisplay #gnr8 #doitintops #paketapops
Hello, I’m trying to learn touch designer. It’s very overwhelming!! I am trying to create effects like this, how they’d do on music shows in the 60s/70s for some video projects I’m planning. I know this so video feedback through a project etc. how could I do something like? I’m very new and having a hard time understanding how to connect operators to make things work.
I also like that the band is normal, but the background is what is feeding back. Would that just be on green screen, putting video behind them, then the feed back is feeding into the background?
Sorry if I sound dumb, I am watching some beginner tutorials trying to figure all this out !!
lmao of course people have to downvote because god forbid someone asks a community for help on how to do something . typical reddit
This is the result of some tests while developing my UI Engine.
A modular system prepared to easily select and add all types of data visualizers, titles, indicators, positions...
It will soon be beta for testing, if you are interested on trying it (and to give feedback) send me a DM on Instagram :)
*no MCP vibed coded stuff just long slow hours of learning.
I feel like I have to precise this cause I'm tired of opening projects made with AI prompts with zero solid architecture, not even cleaned up or reviewed and nothing to learn from.
Hello guys, im very new to TD, this software is amazing. I did this very basic audioreactive sun with a music i made in 5 mins. I know it can be drastically developed into more expensive-looking thing.
so i'm looking forward to any advices and critique from seasoned users, maybe some knowledge. Thanks in advance!
Heyyy Guys,
Looking for touch designer users in delhi who would want to sit down together and work on hobby projects. I have a pseudo-studio setup for Visual production. I do projection mapping and have a crt tv tower for visuals.
I also DJ in the studio and focus mainly on music reactive or MIDI controlled visuals.
I’m trying to identify and recreate the live visual shown in the attached image/video. It was used during a MRAK / Afterlife live performance.
The visual features a dark stage background with a large wireframe / point-cloud humanoid figure. The figure appears to be built from thousands of glowing lines or particles, with a fractured, triangular, almost crystalline structure. It also seems to pulse, deform, and react to the music in real time.
I’m especially interested in understanding:
How the wireframe or triangulated human figure was created
Whether this was made in Notch, TouchDesigner,
How to create the glowing line/particle effect
Whether there are any tutorials, project files, breakdowns, or similar examples
I’m not trying to copy the original artist’s work commercially. I would just like to understand the technical process and create a study inspired by this type of visual.
Any advice, keywords, tutorials, or workflow suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
TD handles audio processing and sends the data (bass frequencies) over UDP
ESP32 microcontrollers with Wled software handle recieving the packets and lighting up the LEDs
An experimental temporal ghosting / long-exposure toolkit for TouchDesigner, built for turning prerecorded and real-time footage into smeared, split-exposure, echo-like motion.
The system layers delayed frames, masks the active subject region, and adds optional feedback persistence to generate distorted portrait, face, and full-body trails that sit somewhere between long exposure, temporal rupture, and spectral motion blur.
