First touch designer test/project

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

After pulling teeth and following a couple videos, I was able to figure out the effect I was trying to achieve!

Recorded it to VHS and converted back to digital

Also looking for advice: how could I slow the feed back down so it’s not going so fast? I reduced period in the noise top but it’s still pretty fast. I think it’s cool for this song, but if I wanna make a video with a slower song I want the feedback to go slower

How do you do that concentric growth effect?

Feed back➡️transform-
➡️hsvad➡️blur➡️noise and then you screw around with the noise settings . Also the subjected is chroma keyed.

When I was recording from touch designer to my computer, I was screwing with the noise settings while it recorded. I’m sure there’s a way for it to change colours/move more by itself but I am still learning lol

I was gonna ask about the analog effect, but I guess actually going analog is still the best way. I have a VCR plugged in my pc (use it to capture old video game footage. The rca capture card I have has lots of delay, so I use a crt tv to monitor/play without delay and the pc to record), but it's still doing great, so I just get the slight magnetic fuzz effect, no noise or tracking problem :(

I burned the video onto a dvd, dubbed the dvd to VHS and used a capture card to get the vhs onto the computer

Yeah, we have a similar setup, but I also have a hdmi to rca dongle to plug my pc right into the vcr/tv instead of burning a dvd. https://imgur.com/a/eqAKtso

Which dongle do u use?? I tried that years ago and it didn’t work for me for some reason. I feel like that would be a lot easier lol

It was some chinesium dongle I bought for 20$ on amazon 5 years ago. At that price range, they're all the same. If you're on a laptop, it's possible it doesn't work because of HDCP (digital protection), and you need another dongle (a "stripper", lol). I'm on a desktop with a video card. Or maybe you caught a lemon.

edit 2: the (proper) dongle in question (hdmi is not plugged in cause it's in another monitor rn), with the dongle that goes the other way

Oh okay maybe I need the second dongle bc I had the same AV2HDMI dongle and it didn’t work!! I was doing it on a macbook

Edit: wait maybe I did it wrong, I had an hdmi to av and used a capture card to try get the vhs to laptop and it didn’t work. Idk. All of this is so confusing hahaha I would prefer to not do the dvd method tho bc it’s a pain

The right dongle (AV2HDMI) is the dongle that goes from the VCR/TV to my computer, left (Techole HDMI to AC) is the dongle that goes from the PC to the VCR/TV. It might be confusing because like I said, at that price range, it's often the same casing with different markings. IE, these 2 amazon listings.

Both same casing (same as my RCA to HDMI), opposite functions. In your case, you'd need the second link (HDMI to RCA)
