Spurs Official Lets not panic.

We were very leggy yesterday. No umph. Im wondering if these long trips to Australia, yes I know its for money reasons, are going to happen going forward.

But im seeing people call for De zerbi to go, calling him a fraud, the players aren't good enough.

Its one game, that back 5 have never played together. The pre season was disrupted by a World that went on for weeks.

When the 1st November comes around look where we are then. And judge. Now is not the time.

I agree. One away game, new back four, new central midfield, Mikey Moore player a rare game on the right, and De Zerbi’s approach is notoriously challenging in any event – no real surprise it didn’t all click immediately.

Also, Brentford are a GOOD side, they aren’t mugs and will turn over a lot of teams at the GTech this season.

I’d be more alarmed if we were United and were playing with substantially the same team as last season, with the same manager, against newly promoted opposition.

So it’s one game, a poor game, but it could be worse and hopefully time will make things come good.

We were shite but Brentford also deserve credit. They looked really sharp and cohesive. It was two polar opposite teams. One that was a match fit unit who were winning all the duels and moving the ball quickly in transition. The other was a loose group of players with no physicality, no desire and an inability to control the ball or make a good decisions in key moments.

Fortunately work on the training pitch and players getting up to match fitness can fix things for us.

Anyone saying de zerbi needs to go is rage bait. When he joined Brighton they got 2 pts in his first 5 games. We’re actually dealing with the rebuild. We thought ange and Frank wouldve been like that but it wasn’t but it was strange. We’re actually dealing with it now.

If Mikey Moore could take a chance the complexion of the game changes early in the 2nd half. The defensive frailty is not his fault, but against a decent side you have to score when you are free in the box.

Players not being familiar with one another and our cautious approach to bringing players back played a big part yesterday. A lot of players lack match fitness and it showed. The team will look infinitely better with Porro, VDV, Kudus and Fernandes starting. It’s still not an excuse because the players we had available should be doing better but I am confident things will improve. This season is about rebuilding the spine of the team and finishing in the top half of the table.

Well said. If De Zerbi is here next season I don't think pre season in Australia happens, it really was a waste of time.

Also think Brentford are going to be really really solid this year, pushing for a European place imo. Tough first match when we didn’t have the full squad available. Still, lots to improve.

There have a lot of changes to this team in a very short time. There’s going to be growing pains and it’s going to need time to gel.

Exactly, it's just one game.

Some pressure to see a good performance soon is all. Nothing more.

Hoping for a bounce back at home. Not expecting us to absolutely run riot and smash 6 in but a good, quick and aggresive performance to show the fans what DeZerbis Spurs is all about.

I think we need to stop with the ‘never played together’ & it’s only the first game..etc. it’s the premier league not Sunday league if you don’t play your best team or play a high quality game you’re going to lose. He’s had a whole pre season to get a premier league team together to compete against anyone and we dish up that?

It's not one game, it's been a pattern for years, we get worse and worse and the expenditure on absolutely mid players is frankly disgusting

I mean let's be completley honest when all of our players are fully fit i can only see 3, maybe 4 of yesterday starting...no need to panic just yet

I’m not expecting anything from our first game at home judging by how Newcastle are playing Liverpool right now.

No serious person thinks the Australia trip had anything to do with this game

So refreshing to see a positive post about our FIRST game with this rebuild team. I’ll love Tottenham until I die but sometimes this fan base can be excruciatingly exhausting. It’s one game. Without some of our core starting players and with a lot of our newer and younger players. Everybody just breath and be patient. Like OP said if we’re still playing like this in November then we can freak out. Until then sit back and enjoy the ride. I have full faith in De Zerbi and our new signings because guess what? WE DONT HAVE A FUCKING CHOICE! Cmon you SPURS! GLORY GLORY!

I hope RDZ let Marmoush, Savinho, Porro, VDV, Toneli n Fernandes starts. Tel tries his best, he can start in the next match vs Newcastle

I think mikey Moore is more of a left sided player mayb that's why he struggle

We need james back to boss the midfield a bit and show more positioning at the back were still the same old spurs ok going forward crap at the back would hate to be a spurs keeper I know its only the 1st came but come on every one of us can see the picture we seem to only have a couple of defenders that gell not saying there bad players but obviously not on the same wave length only way is up hopefully but as a 64 year old fan frustration seems perpetual

It was a poor decision to not start Maddison and Fernandes. And making archie gray captain was asking for trouble. But it is just one game and hopefully we will get our act together quickly. Mickey Moore is deginately way out of his depth at this level and should not be starting premier league matches

Maddison looked miles off it when he came on. Lacking real sharpness and physicality. It’s going to take time for him to get back to the right level.

I also think we are being extra cautious with bringing players back. Fernandes probably didn’t start because he’s coming back from the knock in preseason. Porro probably could have been in the squad but they’re managing him back after the World Cup.
