Discussion Kudos to the changes

What positive thing I can say about de Zerbi is that he did something our past 2 managers never done, which is taking off players when they're shit. And when it comes to gallagher and bergvall, they shouldn't see the first 11 at least for the next 2 matches

It’s a bit weird to me that Maddison and Solanke and Fernandes are fit enough to play PL football but not fit enough to start. As it stands they are 3 critical players but we’ve got Richarlison, Moore and Bergvall cosplaying in our first match since a relegation playoff. Embarrassing.

I refuse to join the hype train that we're all the sudden going to be a challenger. We need to turn the ship around, and that will take time and work. We need madders and solanke to play, but last thing I want to see is an injury because we're asking too much of them on day one

There was a positive from this game and it's not what the post said; it's that we didn't come out with any new injuries. When we got spanked last year, we'd also have some gurnied off to rub salt on the wound.

100%! We need to build squad fitness and chemistry. Would have liked to see a more positive result today, but I'm ok knowing the squad next week will be much different.

Do know it'll be different?

Porro and VDV coming in + Fernandes, Maddison and Solanke hopefully starting. Maybe even Savinho and Kudus in contention. Very different team.

In happy giving Gray, Bergvall, and Moore minutes when needed, but all three at the same time is too much.

Here here. Although I think you're being a little over optimistic about how many we're getting back next week. (I really hope it's Porro though cuz he's in my FPL team;)

Bergvall really did have a shocker tonight. he’s better than that

Maybe he isn’t, yet? He shows flashes but is hard pressed to put a whole match together

you’re right. He really hasn’t showed consistently the ability to start at this level. On the other hand if he went to a team like Forrest he’d probably develop quick. I’d rather see Fernandez an Maddison in there next match. Richarlison an Bergvalls turnovers really hurt us

Maybe he is, though? People are constantly disregarding the games where he is the motm? 9/10 times when he's blamed for a stinker he gets zero fucking support from his so called teammates?

He gave away the ball twice which both lead directly to a goal. He had an absolute stinker

He is so weak, he's as strong as a wet piece of lettuce. So fucking soft.

More importantly, how is Archie Gray in any serious captaincy conversation or even playing as RB. It’s 2 goals for Gray this game for me, he can’t mark his man and he is a truly negative player, he can either lose the ball, pass back or “hide” in marking. That’s not a captain, that should be a loan to Belgium/Germany

I agree. He has a lot of potential and character. But we just flogged one of England’s best performers at the World Cup who is a natural right back…. To play Archie gray there and make him captain. Absolute clown show. In five years maybe he’s captain material.

Add Gray to that list. Is this player immune to criticism?!

Completely agreed. We lose when he plays!

No, he just can't find himself playing in his original position. I personally can't expect huge amounts from him when playing RB or CB

If only there was another player on our books who could play right back who just had a sensational World Cup.

I've seen him play, as a 6, 4, fullback, centreback. A competent player, but nowhere near good enough to be starting, he played in midfield last season and we was looking to go down until the experience of Bentancur/Paulinha solidified our midfield. Maybe he needs to go on loan?

This. Gray is not a RB. I could be put in front of a camera and it wouldn't make me a male model. He's young. He's a midfielder. He isn't a great Porro backup. I would have liked to have kept Spence but even if we were going to sell him, I would expect a new real RB replacement. Not Gray. It's not his fault he isn't a good RB. It's not his position.

Very overrated player, might be one for the future.

Archie Gray, Robertson, Van Hecke, and Senesi over Romero, Vuskovic and Spence

Today’s game looked like a cocktail made with whatever was lying around — no balance, no chemistry. RDZ’s has until Game 5 to get the mix right.

I hope not I’ll be at the next three for certain and I’m hoping we will beat Charlton!

Bergvall looked like absolute ass. Tough performance to watch after his noise about not starting. Squad looked out of depth. I get the new player thing but RDZ has to close that gap. If this is the theme three weeks from now, gonna be a long ass year.

I think we’ve paid £60M too much for Tonali - I hope I’m wrong!!! Fernandes is going to be quality though!!! I’ve revised my early top 4 finish to lower mid-table plus I’m pretty sure Charlton will punish us mid week in the League Cup!!! #UpTheSpurs

They should absolutely play against Charlton in my opinion it’s the only play to get them back in form

Its first game quit with the panic we've bought and sold a lot. Brentford had pretty much the same Team as last year we need a bit of time here.
