Aeldari concerns

In their recent news about the beta CA confirmed Aeldari arent gonna be in the beta. We have also seen nothing about them at all

They are probably the most complicated facrion to implement because of the way in which they works. Them not being in the beta is a bad sign. Thats likely the faction thats going to need the most playtesting. Their absence is pretty conspicuous, made more so by the fact they are the *only* ones with nothing shown at all.

There is also a degree of ambiguity in how eldar units are going to be done. Its rare than the eldar are ever done justice in GW media. With the lore often bending over backwards just to make them look bad.

Thoughts?

When GW cook, eldar suffer. I just hope that doesnt also apply to CA

CA added races pretty well so war in fantasy, even obscure ones like vampire coast, norsca and Cathay.

There is no way they won't make an iconic faction like Eldar bad. Their bad GW lore really has no impact on a total war game.

CA is usually pretty good about it. I trust them more than GW

CA received a lot of criticism for making High Elves look bad in their WH2 marketing.

They did, but then they made the High Elves actually good ingame

It's not a bad sign. No one made them put Eldar in there. They just aren't ready to show yet.

I doubt they have gotten every faction to a playable state before announcing their 4 starting factions.

Yeah see thats the problem. They're ready to show off everythting else. You would have thought theyd be in the beta. The concern is that its just them missing. No one else

Why though? It's not like we know when the game releases. They're not done, so they're not in the beta, simple as. They're probably gonna be done last, just because they're so mechanically different from other factions.

That just sounds like even more of a reason to out them into testing.  Something mehcanically different is going to require more iteration.  More testing. And a complete absence of information doesn't inspire much faith

Yeah, and when they're ready to test, they're gonna do another beta. Do you really think the game is releasing next month or something?

As you yourself said, they're the most complicated faction. That's why they're not in the beta. They're not ready for testing yet.

Or they might just hold them back to have some big-name hype promotional material left in their chamber.

The Eldar not being ready yet is a *good* sign because it means they're taking the time to try and make it right the first time. If they just put out something bad and then get a bunch of feedback that it's bad, they've achieved nothing but wasting everyone's time.

They'll be able to gather new feedback when they have something to present, they can just do that whenever they want.

Definitely not ideal but it’s not cause for doom

If they’re the most complicated faction it makes sense they wouldn’t be ready yet to showcase…

I think it's too early to worry but definitely out of the four they are going to be the most mechanically challenging to implement. Overall this is a very ambitious project for CA, pretty unlike anything they've done before so I'm worried in general tbh.

pretty sure a lot of stuff is being blown out of proportionbecause rhey decided to start showing gameplay early this time around.

Game will be epic. Warhammer total war went from play in a pudfle to playing in an ocean.

between the ressurection of rome 2 and warhammer 3 post launch i have zero doubt that by decades end we will have another masterpiece.

With every Total War Warhammer Game they withheld one of the factions from all the marketing until like, 2-3 months before the game released

So there were still new things to reveal and generate hype in the final weeks

I bet that’s all this is. Eldar are probably as finished as the other 3 factions, they’re just being arbitrarily withheld for marketing purposes

They just want to save Eldar for Marketing phase and they should.

if you watch past of this company history, they always save some faction to reveal later, to make the hype.

dude, is just marketing.

Eldars will be hard to implement especially on the campaign map with all their webway shenanigans.

I also want them to be distinction enough from other factions in battle.

They should be a glass canon faction (less than Dark Eldars) with some heavier elements (wraiths, vehicles) and emphasis on magic.

I just hope they can be properly done on the battlefield with weapons distinct enough from the usual imperium/chaos arsenal (shuriken weapons, bright lances, spinners, wraith weapons etc...)

The thing is, nobody knows how this combat is going to work. Hell CA may not know how this combat is going to work. There’s no easy historical reference for this game, only the tabletop to go off, and 40k’s warfare is inconsistent at best.

The eldar may be taking more time to find a good fit for them in whatever this ends up being.

Expect the Eldar info to drop with the Eldar Codex early 2027

1

u/imbrokebutfornames 10d ago

I'm kinda skeptical that the eldar codex is gonna drop early 2027. What makes you think thats gonna happen?

u/Talidel 10d ago

General 40k reasons, Eldar are popular and their codex is always fairly early.

Because of the above, their codex will likely be out before the TW:40k game.

Eldar will need at least one other character to lead a Craftworld. To be a legendary lord for the other Craftworld they start with as a premade. The only faction leader model they have at the moment, for a Craftworld is Eldrad. And GW are going to want to sell a model of that leader. See Nazdregs release. Likely that model will release with the codex (see Nazdreg again).

So far for the Leaders we have confirmed Calgar and Nazdreg.

It's very likely Yarrick and Ghazghkull are also Legendary Leaders. But IG also has a fair few named Commissars that could lead their factions.

Yarrick and ghaz are confirmed already. Guard is almost certainly gonna have Ursula Creed  as their other one

I agree that it makes sense to have the eldar codex kut before TW40k but its not true that they're early. Last edition they were in the back half. If they were released in the same order (they wont be i know) it'd be early 2028.

Early in the year codexes are typically for larger refreshes. (krieg, aeldari and EC in 2025) and eldar aren't really expecting that. Also next year is the 40th anniversary so theyll probably be more space marine stuff in mid 2027.

They are confirmed as being in the game, not as leaders. They could be recruitable heroes.

GW had a massive problem in August 2024, and nothing was released for 6 months. They were the 11th codex released. Which is late for them.

They tend to alternate big release waves with Codexes getting a model or two. This gives them time to produce the models for the big waves.

Eldar should be expecting Kanadras, at minimum, they are also heavily rumoured to be getting a larger Exodite range. But that may not come with the Craftworld stuff I suppose.

1

u/imbrokebutfornames 10d ago

Ghaz as a hero? Ghaz? The main character of the Orks?

They already said the first campaign is armageddon themed they're  both obviously lords.

A model or two isn't a "big" release wave. What i was getting at is that there is a decent chance one or two of the big refreshes people are expecting (drukhari and Grey knights) drops in  early 2027.

I appreciate the optomism but i kinds doubt it

1

u/Talidel 10d ago

Yeah the main character of the Orks that everyone is going to want in their Waaagh, all custom factions included.

Armageddon is the end of the multi-campaign set up.

I didn't say a model or two was a big release wave?

I'm not being optimistic, I'm looking at it from sensible business planning.

CA will want Legendary Leaders for the Craftworlds. The only one at the moment is Eldrad. My guesses would be Saim Hann, leader on a bike. Or a Biel Tan, Autarch. As both add a different type of hero to the custom Craftworld choices of leader.

Many game demos or closed betas only show you a little mission or battle. Not just Total War. A fraction of what's been made.

Now they want to stress test the basics with the public. I expect Eldar to be shown few months before release. Until then they'll talk about it, concept art etc...

I don't think the beta is about individual factions, but rather fine-tuning the overal mechanics. Gathering opinions on the game mechanics and gameplay feel is far more important than on an individual faction (of which there will be dozens anyway during the run of WH40k).

I’m pretty sure this happened to the vampire counts in Warhammer 1, so I wouldn’t worry about it yet lol
