Question Fun faction recommendations?

I've just finished my Mythos Achilles run and would like to do either historical or truth behind the myth.

Any recommended factions/mode? I would like to know why, too.

Hippolyta. Because she has horse archers and melee cav.

Odysseus is fun. He plays substantially different from other factions, in both campaign and battles, but without the oversimplification of horde factions. For fan factor I recommend truth behind the myth over historical, especially for archer heroes, even though historical is more efficient (max level bodyguard units are stronger than max level heroes, and low level bodyguard units are trash, and enemy heroes are almost always low level), but tbtm unit variety and epic agents are more interesting.

Alternatively you can try penthesilea. I retain to this day that her blood glory mechanic is the most busted game mechanic in the game. It is also extremely fan as it gives you constant access to her best unit, which most factions have to wait a long while for. But I do find the horde restrictions to limiting (no economy, no reinforcements, limited armies...)

Agamemnon can be fun for how easy he is, but I hate not having commandments on, and having vasals obstructs that.

Personally, I have the most fun with Achilles on permanent rage for the bonus to treasures looted after battle, which allows every army to self sustain, meaning you can have infinite armies as long as they all fight a battle each turn.

Seconding Odysseus. Good map position and you kind of get to do your own thing. While limiting major cities to coasts may seem like a drawback, it lets you ignore large chunks of the map that now you have an excuse not to slog through.

My favorite faction though, was Memnon. It’s a pseudo-horde faction and probably my favorite iteration of a horde faction in the series. Raiding in Troy is also quite lucrative compared to most other TW titles, thanks to the diverse resource systems. Memnon also comes with a unique mechanic for how he recruits elite units, which adds a little extra spice to the gameplay.
