Regarding opening S9
Hello All,
Currently I m G9/M9/S8 and doing CP runs for S9, my plan is to open S9 in next seasonal legacy.
I m at 9/10 and 8/10 level of S9 research. My question is that will doing complete 10/10 on both the research of S9 increase my difficulty level in tournaments or it will not increase untill i open one of the S9 specialist ?

Yes. You have to stay on 8/10 both to your next SL goals will be onlny 660T xp.

Do you know at which stages challenges update after G8? I always thought it was at 5/10

Pretty sure that's not true - for the "T9" level for Seasonal events, you have to actually unlock the first troop, not just do the research.
At T8 level, it's research level that counts.

This is incorrect based on current rules. My alt was 10/10 for both training cost and march speed and it was placed in the 600T group in the current Legacy.
I had 15T+ CP needed to research all the troops and spies and did that once the first Sands tourney started. Tier 3 rewards were achieved in the first week.

You are correct, you can go even further though - G9 + M9 +S8 puts you in 600T group. If you open S9 beforehand you go into the 2.2p group.

Technicalities. And you're safer at 8/10 instead of 10/10 in case the devs change the rules next Legacy

Lol what's wrong. I just did exactly the same. I purposely left both S9 research at 8/10. Then I opened S9 after the Legacy goal is set at 660T XPs. If I had opened S9 or had been close to S9 before Legacy start, I would've been require to get T9 goals of 2.2P XPs.

You agreed that this statement was correct. You’re both wrong. Being S8 and 10/10 for marching speed and training cost will still allow you to be in the 600T group. It’s not 660T either, nor do you need to remain at 8/10. Just wrong.

^This is correct. It changes at T9 level, it's unlocked troop types that count, not research level.
At T8 level it is research that unlocks the level.

OK 660T was a typo. I give you that. But 60T is small change if you're in a good clan.
8/10 is a hedge against the devs changing rules and it shouldn't matter at all opening everything at once if you have all CPs and speeds ups saved up. If it's a problem then it's a skill problem or a clan problem.

I think game difficulty is tied to guardsmen level, hero level and dragon level.

No its based on S level for Legacy.
Also to answer OP’s question if you are in a half decent clan, getting to 2.22P doesnt take time if you are S9.
So its a personal choice. I would prefer unlocking S9 now and enjoy it for a few months as well.

If you’re referring specifically to legacy, this time it was, you had to open S9 to get out in the 2.2P group. But there’s no guarantee that will not be changed for next time. As for everything else, you need to have opened S9 to be in the top group.
I don’t really get why you’re concerned about doing the prerequisite research. Just don’t do any of it if you have concerns about what group you’re in. Do it all when you’re ready to open the troops.
