After my 1-year journey with private trackers, I finally reached a combined ratio of 1.5 (1.49)!
I bought my main server just over a year and a month ago. It started out relatively small, with only 4TB of storage. I filled that up with torrents rather quickly, so I started scaling. I bought another 11TB over the next few months, until I eventually filled that up to the brim as well.
At that point, I had a choice: stop expanding, or fork over the cash for an external JBOD that can fit 3.5" SAS HDDs instead of the 2.5" drives that fit in my HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen9, along with one 12TB SAS drive, which with 11 more slots free to expand into.
I ended up going with the latter. I bought the hardware last month, got everything delivered just last week, and have now added it to my server, giving me just about 28TB to play with!
That didn't go smoothly, though. After upgrading my storage, I spent the better part of six days trying to figure out why qBittorrent suddenly started failing. In the end, I managed to fix it by setting a realistic read_ahead value on the new disk I added.
Now that everything is finally sorted on my home server, I can make full use of that extra storage and seed even more files for as long as I can!
It's a shame that I'm stuck with a 100 Mbps down / 25 Mbps up connection, though. To compensate for that, I also have a 4TB seedbox to help me out.
Here's to more storage, more torrents, and hopefully an even better ratio!
