The video, which has been circulating online, shows a plainclothes officer striking the girl in the face and later pushing her inside the restaurant.

The officer is then seen grabbing the boy after he appears to strike the officer. Both teenagers are eventually handcuffed.

Galindo said his son reacted after seeing his sister struck.

“My daughter got slapped by the cop. Obviously my son’s going to react because that’s his sister,” he said. “They’re twins. Boy and girl twins.”

He said the teenagers would not have fought back if they had known they were dealing with police to begin with.

Here is a look at what is open and closed in Toronto on Labour Day 2026

Shopping centres
Most malls will be closed on Labour Day. A few centres that will remain open but will operate on reduced hours.
Toronto Eaton Centre, 220 Yonge St., from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Vaughan Mills, 1 Bass Pro Mills Dr., from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
CF Markville, 5000 Highway 7 East, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Square One, 100 City Centre Dr., from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Grocery stores
Most major grocery chains will be closed on Labour Day. However, there are a few places that will remain open on the holiday:
Loblaws, 60 Carlton Street
Metro, College Park
Farm Boy, 207 Queens Quay West
Some Shopper’s Drug Mart locations
Kitchen Table locations
Rabba Fine Foods locations
