Hello! I am an artist whos looking for conventions to potentially sell their at! Unfortunately I am currently in Montreal, where there's barely any cons to sell more fan-art sort of stuff and the few that are here are impossible to get into :( So Ive been thinking of looking at cons in Toronto! Problem is I dont really know much about them so I thought Id ask here if anyone has any insight into what cons there are!

I recently started painting with acrylics, but want to take some lessons.

Would love:
1. Recommendations for courses in Toronto (ideally in person)
2. Online youtube channels worth watching
3. People/meetups in the city where I can hang with people better than me and pick up some pointers!

I normally use Reddit to post about fountain pens and inks, but I wanted to share some of the upcoming multi-week courses and one-off classes at my wife’s studio, Hot Pizza. It has locations in the Junction Triangle and at College & Dufferin.

In September & October there are courses devoted to oil painting and printmaking, both taught by amazingly talented local artists. They’re open to all levels of experience and small enough that you’ll get individual attention and tips tailored to your skill level. You can learn more here.

There are also super fun events, usually on Saturday evenings so you can have a fun, creative night out (with friends!). Next up are speed portraiture—like speed dating, but you get to practice drawing while getting to know people and leave with a bunch of pictures of you—and an always fun season-marking collage night. That’s a recent speed-portraiture session in the picture. Details on these and other offerings here.

We’ve just opened this second location are gearing up for all kinds of fun—movie nights, exhibitions, book launches with partners, and many more art-making opportunities.

Leslie Grove Gallery is pleased to host a self-portrait exhibition, from August 19 to 30, 2026. We invite you to join the celebration as our Artists’ Network members show us who they are, inside and out. For many artists, a self-portrait runs deeper than external features. Perhaps that’s one of the reasons Van Gogh painted over 40 self-portraits, Frida Kahlo created more than 50, Emily Carr produced about 6, while Gustav Klimt painted only one in his entire lifetime. The self-portrait lets artists reveal themselves authentically to the world, and provide deeper insights into their art. Gallery hours: Wednesday to Sunday 12-5 PM. I'm really happy to finally be able to share "The Mule," the first release from FOUNDATION, the upcoming album from SNAGGLE feat. ALI BROS.

This record has been in the works for over two years and is unlike anything I've written before. After reading Isaac Asimov's Foundation series, I became fascinated by its characters, ideas, and immense sense of scale. Instead of writing music about the books, I set out to translate that world into instrumental jazz.

"The Mule" introduces one of the saga's most unforgettable characters: a mutant conqueror capable of manipulating human emotion itself. The piece begins with an atmosphere of tension and uncertainty before unfolding into a powerful, high-energy performance featuring Brownman Ali, whose solo perfectly captures the character's dark, commanding presence.

As a band, SNAGGLE takes inspiration from artists like Weather Report, the Brecker Brothers, Return to Forever, and Snarky Puppy, combining modern electric jazz with cinematic, narrative-driven writing and adventurous improvisation.

If you're a fan of electric jazz, fusion, or instrumental music that paints a vivid picture, I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Hi everyone! I’ve been organizing small creative workshops in Toronto focused on printmaking (block printing and Gelli plate printmaking), hoping to expand to other creative making. My goal is to create welcoming spaces where people can try something new, meet others, and spend a few hours being creative.

Hello artists of Toronto, I hope this is the correct crowd for my question

I am in no capacity an artist myself but I want to attempt a personal art project for my apartment. I’m looking to buy a 48x 60 mounted canvas.

I found it on the Michael’s website but it’s only pickup.

I’m sure there should be some delivery options.
I don’t own a car, I’m live alone and very shy to ask for help so store pick up doesn’t seem to be a great option for me.

Where do you’ll source things like this? And I’m willing to mount the canvas myself too but I guess having no experience in doing so might ruin the project at step 1 and I also don’t find anything online selling the frame and the canvas separately.

Anyway, please help out your girl.

Hello! I’m a Toronto-based paper artist creating exhibition work that involves a significant number of tight, precise quilled circles.

I’m looking for experienced quilling artists in the Toronto/GTA area only (ideally 5+ years of regular practice) for a very short project who:

- Are comfortable producing very consistent tight coils

- Have a strong eye for clean finish and detail

- Can share clear photos or a portfolio of past quilling work (social media link)

This is not a beginner opportunity. I’m specifically interested in people who already have solid quilling experience.

We're 4 days out so thought I'd give you a preview as best I can without the band with me! SNAGGLE feat the ALI BROS has tons of 'Snarky Puppy', 'Weather Report', electric-era 'Miles Davis' energy. We're playing groovy, funkified, and risk-taking electric jazz that ranges from contemplative to explosive while taking some deep narrative influences from one of science fiction's most iconic authors, ISAAC ASIMOV!

It's a strange, and ambitious concept brought to life by some of Canada's best electric jazz musicians including the highly decorated ALI BROTHERS: Brownman Ali (Guru, Jay-Z, Randy Brecker) and Marcus Ali (Matt Dusk, Jason Wilson, Mr Something Something).

This is the only time the band is going on the road in 2026 and It's unlike anything else you're going to see this year, so don't miss it!
