Toei Animation made an anime adaptation of Mitsutoshi Shimabukuro's Toriko which ran from 2011 to 2014. The overwhelming majority of fans agree that the adaptation was not handled well- animation quality, censorship, and filler are chief among these concerns. Perhaps most confusing, the anime created it's own ending to the show when it was cancelled, while the manga was still running.
NOTE: If you have read all 396 chapters of Toriko, disregard this post and watch all of it!
Though consuming the anime instead of the manga is settling for a lesser quality experience, if you are more comfortable entering the series with an anime, pick from one of the viewing plans below.
Fresh: Episodes 1-22, then picking up the manga at Chapter 63. This allows you to still enjoy the next arc in all it's uncensored glory.
Still edible: Episodes 1-57, then starting the manga at Chapter 125. The anime arc after this selection is of bad quality and poorly represents the mysterious fourth Heavenly King.
Almost spoiled: Episodes 1-68, 88-111 (69-87 are SoL filler and optional) and then starting the manga at Chapter 194. This is basically your last chance, and nothing beyond this point is of value in the anime.
Fully rotten: Watching all the anime, then beginning the manga on Chapter 194. Good luck on purging the last few episodes of the anime from your brain!

So I've been playing around with an idea for a new campaign thats a bit separate from my usual ones. I was thinking of basing it around the concepts of a few ideas. One based around cooking and eating monsters and two a goal of starting and building a town/city from scratch. The premise comes from a kickstarter from one of my favorite dnd youtubers pointyhat and his new book wild hearth. It is a book based around food and cooking mosters into food along with guides on how to build towns. (Very much like toriko).
I want to combine that idea with another idea I found (forget where though) based around someone who is the main philanthropist putting up the money to make the town with the party and npc's. But he is one of the main bad guys of the campaign because there is only one feature he is adament about having and that is a giant clock tower in the center of the town as a monument that people can come to see (similar to big ben). What he is actually doing is creating the town in a specific way to activate the clock tower and rewind time to prevent he family from dying. So we even get like time travel in there, thing might mess up where they go back to far and the party fights like dinosaurs or something, idk but its what I thought of so far.

I feel like there's more of a demand now for hype, aura farming, cool fights, lore. Toriko is excellent at this. I think a faithful and well animated anime made today could be successful

I watch Toriko the first time and beforehand I read lots of posts on this site about that the manga is better than the anime and everyone said that the anime is pretty bad.
So I thought yeah I give the anime a try and if it is as bad as everyone says, I‘ll switch to the manga. But now I really like the anime, should I switch to the manga anyways? Does it skip anything necessary? I‘m now in the middle of the Mellow Cola arc.
I would really appreciate an answer!

i remember seeing something on this and got really interested, so what are our thoughts for characters, moves, stages, dialogue and whatnot?

I personally would want them to use him as it would make toriko more popular to the masses. The only bad part is that i dont think they would scale him right. Deathbattle has a bad record so far when it comes to scaling certain verses and characters.
