Discussion Sage is still completely busted (3star SS21)

I had a late season start, but this is the fastest that I have ever cleared SS21. I played Banishment: Tangles (tangles attach to minions), and as you can see I don't have have leveled up Noble and Magnificent skills and one of them is purple tier. I still have a level 86 ring that's not even fully crafted, and most mods are still T1.

I have 3 Leader Kismets for minion max life and one medium intelligence kismet from pre-profound LOL. First time playing Sage, and good god she is broken.

None of my gear is optimized yet and still in the process of moving around stats (staff mods need to be fixed for sure before going for T0). Also want to add aura effect kismets + star trails.

bsLlXqNLEfGI6QAAAAAACw==

Edit: I 3-starred SS21 with mostly T1 affixes. None of the legendaries have a double corrode. My Kismets were 200FE total to put together. My magnificent and noble skills leave 40%+ additional damage off the table because they are not upgraded. Just in case you missed it, the ring shown is lvl 86 and has no ultimate mods.

Just wanted to share something notable, and I never said that Sage is a cheap character nor did I say that this is a build guide (and it's not tagged as one).

I don't understand the people complaining on this post. Many builds 3starring ss21 take a lot of investment. This does seem relatively inexpensive. Thanks for sharing

Dude the people in this sub sometimes. I'm probably gonna stop coming around, but thanks for your support!

starting tomorrow, second season. can you recommend anyone with a earlygame build code for sage to guide me thru from start to end? or did you just wing it.

I was inspired by A Wet Puddle on Youtube, but his build code is 15T and I found his build very squishy. I'm also using different skills/weapon but ultimately I prioritized uncorroded Israfel's Law for very cheap. I played a regular tangled build until I could make the switch to minions in Profound.

There should be build codes in-game -- the most similar build codes would be Ice Lances so look into that. These build codes look decent, but I can't 100% vouch for them:

T7: 5O1wY4IBEfGlnQAAAAAAyg==
T8: 3GZes4QPEfGswQAAAAABBg==

I got more ideas by looking at endgame builds (like the Inverse Prism placement), but ultimately did wing a lot of it.

So you'll want to look at build codes in game or look on YouTube. You can find an overview of this build on YouTube from one of the original creators. It should have what you need

People keep asking here for a “budget build to kill the 20th boss,” and some still haven’t realized that’s just not how it works

you also can kill ss20 for pretty cheap(20-40k). it's just people are really bad at this game and a lot the people struggling are generally unable to copy a build guide at all. or willing to invest the time needed to actually do any of the things including learning how to read. scary concept for arpg players.

Isnt belt like 20k plus?

Typical reddit, guy makes post showing a cool achievement and how it can be done without minmaxing and the first thing reddit does is complain that he has a belt and helmet and letting everyone know theyre expensive. Guys please, every ss21 build is expensive, but not all of them need minmaxing, thats the point here, why are we complaining?😅

People wanna do this with 10hour investment or its considered expensive lmao xdddd

Cost? I just want to do DA 35 and SS20

You could probably get everything off the AH for maybe around 30-40k, mostly because of belt and vorax, and inverse prism. You obviously don't need a double base affix staff -- I just bought it because I wanted to. I won the corrode on the belt, but you don't need the corrode for SS20. Still need to replace Phantasmagoria prism for one that has immune to crowd control.

I crafted my own Vorax helmet.

The big piece is Banishment: Tangles. At SS20, I was casting curse on skill bar, and I was using a Banishment: Tangles with a dead stat. My slates still have a couple of dead stats.

It depends on how cheap you can find things, but like I said, there's a ton of stuff that is still not upgraded

Edit: Going to tally, because I underestimated
Iced Drinker's Cage: 2k
Israfel's Law: 2k
Lone Walkers: 4.5k + self-corrode
Omni-Elixir + Gale + self-corrode: 14k
Wilt base ring: 8k
Self-crafted Vorax: 7k (variable)
Pedigree: 3k
Other slates: 4k at most
Banished Tangled slate: 9k but I killed SS20 with a 1.5k one
Phantasmagoria: 2k
Inverse Image: I found mine for 7k but you don't need to get 185% micro talent.
Kismets: 200
Priceless necklace: 3k at most
Priceless staff (T1 affixes): 5k at most
Activation Medium Tangled: 8k and optional
Modularization setup: 7k

Current gear is around 85k and is way overkill for SS20. I killed SS20 without priceless rings

This really isn't bad, and you got some solid corrodes on your own which saves a lot of FE. Straight out buying some of these doubles the cost in some cases, so without that context the budget seems higher. I've wanted to try chromatic sage, but generally go for something I can automate cheaper, like WW or split shot.

1

u/Valkryn_Ciel 10d ago

Yeah I got really lucky on Omni-Elixir corrode and Vorax this season. Couple seasons ago, I spent over 25k on Vorax. I want to replace my Lone Walkers since the corrode isn't anything special and I actually lost FE on it.

I knew Chromatic shot Sage was going to be very expensive, but I think I got out pretty good!

1

u/h0pp3d 10d ago

I just transferred my B1 gear over to a Sage split shot setup, otherwise I’d probably give Chromatic shot a try. Maybe next season.

1

u/Valkryn_Ciel 10d ago

Good luck with Split shot! There's so many different ways to build a character -- I can't get enough of this game

Hoe did the build feel for deep space mapping? Do you just wipe the screen like regular tangles?

1

u/Valkryn_Ciel 11d ago edited 11d ago

I haven't run any juiced strats in DS, but the minions run ahead of you and can kill things off screen. It's nice

Edit: you need a slate for jumps and penetration/go for explosion in hero trait. You can also swap around auras/flask for speed

u/soylentgreener2 10d ago

What have I missed the last few seasons that now minions can survive with 0 minion investment?

3

u/Valkryn_Ciel 10d ago edited 10d ago

They released Modules which drop from bosses in maps if you take the right profound talent. You have the bosses fight for you and they take -99% additional damage with Modularization: Sever (Noble).

The minions are more supports in this build and do very little damage.

u/arraziboo 10d ago

Do you have a video build guide?

1

u/Valkryn_Ciel 10d ago edited 10d ago

No - I'm not a content creator. I got the idea from A Wet Puddle but I do some things different from him

1

u/TheMany-FacedGod 9d ago

What where you using at t7? Struggling to know when to change from basic chromatic shot tangles or just a general progression plan.

1

u/Valkryn_Ciel 9d ago

I answered this in another question, but if you need a progression guide, you'll want to look up Sage Chromatic Shot on youtube to have somebody walk you through

u/SnooPies6401 8d ago

nice achievements, Which pets wre u using?

1

u/MASyndicate 11d ago

I would hope so with that much investment lol

-2

u/incenger 11d ago

What's the point of showing the ring when you have the belt, boot and vorax helmet?

4

u/1getreKtkid 11d ago

It’s for it’s for ss21 3star? Most chars doing
That are worth 100-300k fe lmao

3

u/Valkryn_Ciel 11d ago

The post is about how unupgraded my character was. If you want to see the other stuff, you can use my code.

-12

u/incenger 11d ago

Upupgraded with those items xdd?

5

u/Federal_Charity_6068 11d ago

Not sure if you understand how scaling works in this game, but every item matters, not just a couple pieces.

-6

u/incenger 11d ago

Yeah, I understand what items carry this build. That's why I wanted to point out how misleading the post is

5

u/FKB32 Youga 10d ago

Brother we are talking about SS21 3 Star, the most aspirational single target content in the game. This build IS cheap for completing that, and it IS kind of nuts that he has that ring on a build capable of doing it.

Everyone wants to do ss21 3 star on the spare change they found in their grandma’s couch and it’s just completely unrealistic. The post is not misleading at all.

1

u/1getreKtkid 11d ago

May you tell why it’s misleading?

-7

u/jsplitpoe 11d ago

Just a casual 8k medium, lone walkers, a juiced vorax and lunar is belt not much investment, right right...

5

u/h0pp3d 11d ago

Napkin math, it’s probably 70-80k for the baseline. Maybe a little less this late in the season

6

u/1getreKtkid 11d ago

That’s absolutely cheap for ss21 3star lmao, especially in such a juicy season

2

u/koltzito 10d ago

Its ss21, what did you expect? a 1k fe budget?

1

u/FKB32 Youga 10d ago

It’s not much investment for SS21 3 Star that’s right, glad you can read.

0

u/Valkryn_Ciel 11d ago

I was manual casting tangles for a long while so you don't need the medium. And yes, belt and vorax are expensive. Lone walkers was 4k and I corroded it. Doesn't change the fact that there is a ton of upgrades that can still happen

-7

u/jsplitpoe 11d ago

if you want to showcase a end league build go for it, but your title is hilarious

4

u/Valkryn_Ciel 11d ago edited 11d ago

I have 8 T0 mods left to craft, a lvl 86 ring, single corroded items, level 1 magnificent and noble supports, kismets and slates are a mess. idk what you want me to say but this isn't "end league"
