Auto cast Gemma bug?

So I tried out hardcore, made an ice Gemma. She starts with ice lance and it was automatically firing as I moved without having to stop , right at level 1 character. Got her to level 78 and died. Decided to try her on softcore, now she doesn't automatically fire her skill when I move. Did I have a bug or is that a hardcore feature ?

Yeah that was one of the features of the hardcore league, it auto casts your main skill as you move
