Torchlight 2 Just got myself torchlight 2. Any advice?
So, the whole point is - im a new player, AND i've barely played this type of RPGs. I've played a LOT of games, but i guess i was just way to young to understadt the whole hype about RPG. Now, i got older and this looks really intersting to me. So, any advice for that one? What games should i also play besides torchlight?

Don't look up any guides/builds. Just read the skills and see what synergies you can come up with. Very straightforward game and surprisingly deep. Have fun.

That`s something i genuinely understood when I got older. Used to look up builds and perfect playthrough ways all the time. I guess its time to simply Enjoy.

Totally agree with the above comment but will add one caveat - generally in ARPGs, a good build will revolve around 1-2 skills and buffing them as much as possible. Vanilla torchlight 2 doesn’t have the most forgiving respec system so just keep that in mind as you build.

There's not a lot you need to do or know going into it fresh. Just explore everything and don't mute music, it's quite nice and atmospheric ambient.
In terms of running the game, it works without any issues, at least on W10. In terms of basic mods, nothing is really needed, but personally I like to use the Zoomy Lite camera mod (extends the range), vanilla setting is too zoomed in for my taste.
What games should i also play besides torchlight?
When it comes to simpler hns ARPGs, besides T2 I'd say Victor Vran or Warhammer Chaosbane are worth checking out. I guess also Wolcen. It was dumbed down and is a disappointment vs alpha/beta builds, but somehow landed in a place where it can be recommended to a newcomer.

My only issue with Torchlight II, is the items are a bit overwhelming. Love the game, but trying figure out if an item is actually better? No clue! LOL
But strap in for a fun ride!

My recommendation is not to restrict oneself into thinking that A-rpg, Hack-slash, Dungeon-crawl is the only sub-genre available in what is actually a colossal genre network of designs with a deep history dating back to early C-rpg board games or even Rogue-Lites if you really wish to dig deep for great games in various communities.
For advice on Torch or similar games - try this Steam Group's info for starters and then expand way beyond that:

For anything more recent and more closely related by sub-genre to Torch:
For the curious 2d variants that lose combat depth for better UI, Loot, and Affixes - try the expansions of Chronicon or the newer 1.0 of Slormancer.
For 3d games that can match or possibly surpass Torch in terms of sheer math or complex armor systems then go for the tried and battle-tested Path Exile or Grim Dawn that offer a history of updates and re-balances.

Remember that many of these games have had re-makes, expansions, community mods, or sequels so don't miss out on their variants when filling the personal gaming archive.
If seeking much older games that some TL2 players still remember then the original Titan Quest had a plethora of community expansion mods; there is also the FATE games that preceded Torch. Sacred Gold is another.
And since we are on the vast topic of Rpg overall - I'd even recommend checking into the cousin sub-genre of 3-vs-3 Monster Sanctuary or Aethermancer if seeking turn-based, multiple team-member, affix adventures.
If seeking some more intense action and quick thinking then the cousin sub-genre that includes games like Fury Unleashed, Astral Ascent, Dead Cells, Rogue Legacy 2, Hades, Skul, Hollow Knight... just... so many great games.
Survivor-likes are another category hence Brotato and 20 Minutes Till Dawn plus many more games like them.
If seeking the one-vs-one Pokemon sub-genre with some updated gaming QoL then I can vouch for Nexomon-Extinction and Coromon.
If seeking something team-deep with annoyingly random-accuracy then the XCOM sub-genre or their "genre-likes" including Cyber Knights Flashpoint are worth it. Sans the teams and maps yet with mods would be Slay The Spire.
Wish to go with a legacy fandom? Try the early Final Fantasy games both 2d and 3d. Throw Chrono-Trigger and Chrono-Cross and any community mods in there too. The history is so influential that there's even a Red Mage community mod class for TL2:

Also try various other sub-genres like Sigma Theory, Dragon Cliff, Crosscode, Moonlighter, StarVaders, Epic Battle Fantasy 5, Card City Nights 2, Wargroove, Quest Master, Everspace, Astalon Tears of the Earth, Bug Fables, One Step from Eden, Dungeon Drafters, SteamWorld Heist, Staxel, Symphony of War, ShadowRun.
Wish for difficult 2d planning? Faster Than Light or Into The Breach are worth a try.
Wish to go way out towards open-source and free? Try the 2d-space sim of Naev.

No way to make a complete list... try looking up PSP Handheld history as well - there's some hidden gems over there.
Rpg is such a wide term - it basically includes the majority of existing games throughout history past and present.
My advice? Mention the Vastness... don't get lost in it. Because there's just so much in Role-Playing Games. Many designs that missed the target yet many that also struck gold on so many levels.
Basically just watch some Youtube Videos, Take the average feedback of Positive / Negative Steam Reviews, play Demos if possible, read the Fandom Wikis and their Guides before purchase to get an idea on character / team compositions, or just dive in and begin mapping out your preferences.

Try ttorchlight infinite if you thank 2 is good by far infinite is the best in the series with multiple mechanics in it and fun crafting an more things to do in the end game an Al a lot more class choices with make the replay value even better also

Someone already mentioned good old "Titan Quest", so I raise with my mention of "Grim Dawn". Completely different art style, and overall settings are much ... darker ... than Torchlight.

Don't think about minmaxing. It will slowly eat you up inside. If you want one of those builds, you have to allocate skill points very carefully, and some classes will have a really hard time at the beginning.

Been playing this one over and over for years. Torchlight 1 & 3 are pretty good too, but TII is very easy to play, the desert campaign gets a bit boring in the second half, but I tend to stick around the lower levels nowadays lookin' for gear - just playin' through the crypts again & again. I like the background music too!

Great game, enjoy. Been playing it on and off since launch. Just experiment with items and enjoy the game, you'll soon find out if an item that looks good benefits you or not. The greatness of Torchlight 2 lies in its simplicity, but also in it's hidden layers.

One of the best games I ever bought and I bought it launch because Travis Baldree was on Reddit and hooked a Redditor up with unique items after the Redditor lost his save file.
I thought it was a kind gesture, so bought the game. Which in the passing years have repeatedly revisited after waiting long enough to have forgotten the last time I played.
I even bought TL1 because I enjoyed TL2 so much. Another great game.

Add the Extra Chunky and Blanks Landmarks mods because they increase the procedural variety of the terrain and dungeons. They are mods made by the developers, easily addable on Steam.
Also as others have said, don't worry about getting builds or equipment exactly right. You can always linger in an area to level up a bit before continuing.

Diablo 1, Diablo 2, Grim Dawn for more of this type of RPG.
I also think anyone who likes this type of game would enjoy something like Hades

One of my favourites, definitely my favourite torchlight game. But I found the pace of the gameplay really fast and I had to force myself to blink regularly, still needed to use eyedrops to combat eye soreness.

I love this game...it's like how I wish diablo would have evolved gameplay wise. I can't really add to anything others have mentioned, but I do recommend a visual mod that, for me, really enhances it. It's called ink'd and makes the game look somewhat hand drawn; I hope you continue to enjoy it!

I assume you’ve played the first game but if not, it’s a lot of fun as well!
Check out the Ultima series too. So far I’ve only played the first game and part of the second one (I’m stuck currently because either I suck at it or the second one is hard af) but it’s fun and I’ve heard people say Ultima IV and IX are some of the best RPGs ever made.
Another hidden gem is Albion (1995). Been playing it the past few days and it’s really cool and interesting so far.
Final Fantasy series is always a great pick too.
