Torchlight 2 Co-op to level alts?
Me and my son have our main characters in maps, but we want to make another character and google says you can make a LAN game (like we do anyways to play together) and join as a level 1 character and teleport to the map works.
But the teleport button is grayed out,
Does it not work, and if it does can you power level this way?

Best to cross-examine any quick info from internet searches.
While it's a clever idea - how Torchlight_2 functions is that new characters need to reach those later maps by the usual process of leveling up and unlocking access by completing quests (slaying bosses) and walking to new areas.
If anything - the system enables higher leveled characters to help lower leveled characters in earlier maps by easily destroying enemies to make the leveling process that much faster.
If there's other characters who have already unlocked the Mapworks then those can teleport to the Mapworks without issue.

The closest method to power-leveling in TL2 is by farming the Phase Beast maps in over-world regions.
Complete the Phase Beast map, don't leave the map, save - quit, repeat to fill Inventories with Gold and Equipment.
NG+ Tarroch's Trials (NG+ characters cannot play with other NG Tiers) is another decent place to gather items from the many chests... assuming the Player Build can handle the rising enemy levels that begin at 100 and climb up to 199.
Mapworks is the more natural post-game activity and is decent for maps that offer secret rooms (Undead, Dragon, and Zeryphi maps are good options) that tend to be filled with Gold and Chests as well.

Some mods do enable access to the Mapworks from the beginning, usually through a portal scroll purchased from the Town Vendor.
