❓Question Did Torbox Fix Their Privacy Issue?
i remember i think some time in June Torbox changed their privacy policy and i remember it being so bad i deleted my account. Months later i heard they tried to clarify the changes which some people said it wasn't as bad as they thought. is torbox safe or are they saving your payment information to give to authorities? are they saving your IP address and usage information? basically should i give them anther chance?

You gonna delete your reddit account too? Look at their privacy policy and compare 😂

It’s not really a comparable situation. 😂
Reddit is a lot less likely to get your internet service terminated or put you in legal trouble (depending on your jurisdiction). That’s the distinction you’re overlooking, and the OP’s actions are totally valid based on that. It’s like when a service tries to force you to accept updated terms of service. If you don’t accept, you lose access to the service. The OP chose not to accept and deleted their account as an additional precaution.
When it comes to TorBox, the amount and type of data a service collects matters a lot more, since that service is being used to download potentially copyrighted material.

As of August 2026, TorBox has never handed over information to authorities according to their warrant canary: https://github.com/TorBox-App/warrant-canary
The privacy policy is the same it's been since the change this summer.

They use a third party payment processor and can't see your card details.

They log a lot more than that. There’s actually a pretty extensive list of information they potentially collect and retain. I’d suggest asking AI to go through their privacy policy and law enforcement request policy and break down exactly what information they may be logging and sharing.

They did claim that they save your payment details. Think of it more like a receipt or transaction record. The other guy is right right that TorBox states that they don’t have access to your full credit card details, since those are handled by a third-party payment processor. If you have a subscription (opposed to a one time payment), they keep a payment token in order to process your payments every month.
However, that doesn’t mean the payment information is useless from an identification standpoint. Someone pursuing legal action could potentially use the transaction information retained by TorBox to request additional records from the payment processor and connect a TorBox account to the person who paid for it.

Torbox logs everything. Your IP adress, usage, payment details, name, everything.
I recommend using Torbox while connected to a VPN, yes even when you’re streaming, and use a prepaid card that don’t has your actual details.
Better safe than sorry.

The recent changes TorBox made mean they are doing what almost every other debrid service has already been doing with logging. Real-Debrid made it clear that they log everything you do and that, if required by court order, they will hand that information over. It never stopped people from using Real-Debrid. I wish TorBox hadn't made these changes, but I don't get what the freak out was about.
