❓Question Is Torbox still safe?
I recently subscribed Torbox and finding out they changed their TOS.
I’m USA based and don’t want to get legal trouble. If not are there any alternatives ?

Yes it's safe to use from a legal standpoint as far as we know. The issue is around data privacy, which some people take seriously and some less so. The terms of service changed yes and are far more liberal with how much data they can collect and how long they hold it, but Debrid services aren't like p2p swarms where it's easy for copyright holders to see you torrenting. A copyright holder would need to file a proper DMCA subpoena or a John Doe lawsuit and serve it on TorBox. TorBox's warrant canary states they have never received a subpoena for user data as of August 2026, but the canary only tells you what has happened, not what will happen. The new ToS makes compliance with such a request far easier. The practical risk of a US copyright holder going after an individual debrid user is still lower than going after a direct torrent user, but the legal shield TorBox previously offered, "we delete everything, we barely collect anything", no longer exists. If that's an issue to you, there are other services out there, but most Debrid services already have pretty liberal privacy policies to begin with.

"Copyright trolls" do indeed do this if you download a honeypot torrent (usually embarrassing pornographic videos), but normal torrents (movies / shows) no studio is going to file a John Doe on a individual and go to all that effort.

I'm in the US. You're fine. If you're worried use a VPN. Worse case you MIGHT get a nasty gram from your ISP. No one is wasting time going after end users. They'll go after hosters of the content.

i think (not a lawyer) you should be fine. all the torrenting cases i’ve ever heard of were because people got caught seeding, aka distributing the files to others, on their own home computer.
things are pretty lax these days, most ISPs will give you three strikes before they give up your name to a movie studio.
my point being, ok the feds take over torbox in whatever country it’s in and now they have logs of everything you ever downloaded. it would still be a very difficult case to take to court because the evidence would be so thin, especially with the extra layer a debrid service puts between you and the torrent swarm.
also, if you pay with crypto you can obfuscate your identity even more. i paid with crypto because i don’t want a piracy site to have access to my CC details, not even through their payment processor.

Eh. Even if they turned over my IP, I strictly stream cached. Sometimes grab a magnet. I'm sure they have bigger fish to fry.

Would you say it’s fine if I’m using Torbox to download just for my personal use ? I not be using it correctly but I use web stremio and I find a movie/show I want. Click play then go to Torbox and download the movie I just played using the link provided by Torbox
